I mean heck - can you imagine bringing him into a game in a "high leverage situations" (seems to be the catchphrase right now) with guys on base in a close game?
No way.

you'd have to bring Thole into the game too!

Nice to see JB with 2 homers in two nights. Hope he can go on a tear. They really need him.

But hey JAYS WIN!
It really seems like when the offence is sputtering and striking out like crazy that the Jays pitching staff picks up the slack.
To me that is the biggest difference between Toronto, Boston and Baltimore. I feel Baltimore and Boston have the more potent line up but the Jays have the better rotation.

Oh man. Bringing in Thole and Dickey in a playoff game in a high leverage situation, I doubt anything could be worse.

Here is my crazy idea: rotate starts between Liriano and Sanchez. Sanchez would still start but every 10th game instead of every 5th.

I'd disagree. There isn't one glaring hole on the Jays' lineup. When you really think of it, the Jays lineup is ridiculous. Where the Sox can have a bit of a mental edge is certain big game players stepping up (Ortiz, Pedroia), but I don't think they're better than the Jays' lineup overall. Where the Sox can win is a little more nimbleness - faster team.

Fair enough fleury. One thing that the Red Sox and Orioles don't have is baseballtron 2000 aka Josh Donaldson. The guy is unreal.
So the Tigers have won 8 in a row and are tied with the Red Sox for the 2nd wild card spot right now.
Still a lot of games left but I think Detroit and Houston are the teams to watch in the wildcard race. Mariners, Yankees, White Sox and Royals (HA!) are done.

I wonder if the Mariners specifically chose to have the Blue Jays series on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday in late September just to prevent the sea of Canadians that would come down if it were a weekend in August.

I don't know, I thought the same thing when I first saw the schedule but however annoying it must be that park is sold out with rowdy beer drinking fans for those weekend games, which is a rare sight in Seattle. That's probably their most profitable home series next to opening day, don't know why they would want to dampen it.
Also, in an example of why baseball is messed, I think most people would've walked Altuve in the 8th there with the first base open but Gibbons chose to pitch to him. Is he a genius? Is he crazy? Lucky? Who knows. It's moments like that I remember when I'm tempted to criticize a Gibby decision

The Jays are one of the few teams that might still draw some fans to a Mariner home game on a week night in September.

can't walk Altuve there. Can't put the go ahead run on base. 2nd and 3rd with 2 run lead.. worse case those 2 runs score and it's tied. Damage limitation.

Pitching to him gave 36% chance of a tie game...I think a lot of people would have walked him there, the announcers certainly thought they would.

36% i'll take that. tie game is better than giving up the lead. Walk Altuve then if Correa hits a double like last night it's 4-3. If Correa hits a single, Altuve is on 3rd with 1 out.

I've been going to Seattle to see the Jays play each year. There's no way that's on purpose. Probably their most profitable home games of the year and the local businesses get a huge windfall for 3 games.

Yep, Minnesota was smart having their series against the Jays on a long weekend. A ton of people from Manitoba made the trip. I was hoping to finally be able to see a Jays game but with the series against Seattle not being on a weekend I have to wait until next season.

I'm hoping to go down to the day game on the 21st of September. I can miss one day of work, but don't want to miss two. Just need to find a few others who can miss work too

I fly from Calgary, but my buddy from Vancouver sometimes meets me there and he says he just takes the Amtrak down. Drops him off like right next to the stadium and saves him the wait at the border.
If you go, you may want to consider that option.
