Cavallini almost didn't get the penalty kick. He still sucks.
Honestly it was a terrible idea and horrible (and almost unforgivable) execution. When the keeper can get back up off the ground and still get a hand to it….
But there are no bad goals and it was a friendly so….
I did like the move that led to the penalty. Driving and attacking space behind the fullback especially late in the game is always welcome!
I’m not expecting Canada to get out of the group…in fact I’m predicting glorious failure where we are almost there…but I think that Canada is going to surprise at least one and maybe two teams. And that might be enough.
If we only had New Jerseys instead of pointless announcements from the CSA.

Stephen Brunt did an interview series with John Herdman. Herdman says that at the end of 2017 he had accepted the job for England's women's national team before the CSA convinced him to take the men's job.
Seems to have worked out....

Took over the women's team right when they had an influx of talent.
The women's team was about to implode after finishing last the 2011 World Cup. Christine Sinclair's new book provides great insight into how JH helped weave that team back together. Other than Tancredi, Sinclair didn't get a lot of run support until the likes of Buchanan, Lawrence, Fleming, Beckie, and Prince graduated from the youth program around 2014/2015.

All the noise from Qatar hosting has made me lose some excitement, but I'm starting to buzz a little for the first time since qualification. I've cheered for Croatia my whole life and there is no feeling in the world like seeing your country score a goal at a major.
Since literally none of us have ever seen a Canada goal at the WC, I can't wait to break that drought vs Belgium on Wednesday. It's going to be special moment and I will be happy for all Canadians to experience that feeling.
And of course it can also be Herdman playing games.
That said, it's clear Estaquio and Davies aren't 100%. How much do you push to get them into an opening match (for the reward and honor of being in the first starting lineup in 36 years) against the least likely opponent to get a result against, vs give them the extra rest to have them more fit for the two games where you have a better change of getting the 4 points+ you need to advance?
I feel like a lot of Canadians are sleeping on Morocco. They are 22 places higher than Canada they are not pushovers. Almost all their players are playing top flight in Europe.
Canada needs to give 100% in all three matches, and not “rest” players vs Belgium and concede a loss before the tournament begins.

If Eustaquio can't go, put Kone in. I'd much prefer a Hutch / Kone midfield 2 to Hutch / Piette. I like Piette, but I think he'd struggle against Belgium.
