Felix breaking things is better than Fritz breaking.

untidy is such a polite word to describe someone playing poorly.

Yeah, Fritz made some nice shots, but Felix broke himself in that game.

And he's not putting up much of a fight on Fritz's serve... Fritz isn't really anti-tennis or whatever but he's a guy who's just solid.

This is just normal pre-hot-streak Felix again basically. It was an anomaly. Optimistically maybe a sign of what he might be able to accomplish for stretches in his prime.

I don't know, I think you have to give a ton of credit to how well Fritz played today, he really served well and didn't give Felix any looks. Also, Fritz was hitting some of the best forehands I've ever seem him hit and returned better than Felix did today. Just one bad service game took all the winds out of Felix's sails in that 3rd set.

The irony is that Carlitos pulling out and opening the door for Fritz as first alternate really hurt Felix as I think Felix has Carlitos' number and likely would have advanced.
/Of course assuming Carlitos and Felix would have been in the same group.

Fritz has seemed to be just better than Felix in the last two matches they have played. I felt today that he was the better player and probably should have won in two sets as he dominated Felix with his serve and forehand. Still a great year for Felix. He needs to improve his backhand and return of serve but he's getting close to a player that could go on a run at a grand slam.

I wonder how the pressure felt for Felix?
As fans we prefer to see deep runs at Grand Slams.
But at the ATP finals, your just a few 3 set matches away from an enormous pay day. Which for a young player without a ton of big money finishes must be so tantalizing.
He still earned around 700K for his one win and appearance. 4 mil plus was possible.

Yeah, it's too bad that Felix couldn't put out a win yesterday because Djokovic looks physically gassed today. On a fast indoor court against a tired Novak, I give Fritz a good chance of pulling off the upset on Saturday.

This Djokovic - Medvedev match is going to cross the 3 hour mark before a winner is determined.

And it’s meaningless for both of them right? Except for the 300K they’d get for winning. Which is peanuts for Djoker.
Surprised he wouldn’t want to save himself more for the semis tomorrow.

Novak pulls it out in a 3rd set tie-break. That win by Djokovic means that Felix will have a new career high ranking of #5 when the official rankings come out on Monday.
Edit: My bad, if Novak wins on Saturday or Fritz ends up winning the tourney, that would push Felix down to #6. Rublev winning the tourney also would push Felix down to #6.

Pretty cruel way for Medvedev to end the season with three consecutive losses and each loss was by the smallest of margins (a 3rd set tie-break).

I really think Stef's dad does much more harm than good during his matches. He never shuts up and it ultimately just pisses Stef off as he fires a tennis ball in his dad's direction.

Oh man, Greek Yogurt with back-to-back double faults and Rublev is serving for the semi-finals at 5-2 in set 3.
