Kinda a Fargoish story about maple syrup in Quebec.
Get ready for mayhem, murder and maple syrup?
Yeah I'm in. Thanks for this

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.

3 episodes into the second season of shrinking. The writing in this show is absolutely excellent.

Highly recommend. I recall it was a bit of a slog to get through the first half of the first season as well, but it definitely pays off. I'm continually impressed how well they portray complex personal issues. It's hard to explain but the show is just so damn...realistic? The characters don't break character, and they actually deal with issues and are flawed. It's nice to see them avoid tropes, like characters having epiphany's and instantly changing their personality or just solving their problems out of thin air.

It might just be me (and I'm no film/tv critic) but I think it's a masterclass in writing and character development. The show went from 1 main character to 7 characters and didn't skip a beat, all of them are fantastic, believable and relatable.

Just finished two series that I thought were really good.

The first was Manhunt, which was about the hunt for John Wilkes Booth by Secretary of War Edwin Stanton after the assassination of Lincoln. Starring Tobias Menzies, Oswalt Patton, and one of my favourites, Glenn Morshower. Some dramatization, and I thought it wandered a bit at the end, but I thought it quite interesting.

The other is A Small Light, a dramatization of Miep Gies and her husband hiding Anne Frank and her family, through until after the war is over. Some amazing performances, especially by Bel Powley as Miep, and Liev Schrieber as Otto Frank. A chilling reminder of what we let happen, and what could easily happen again.

I like Shrinking, but realistic is not the word I would use. The psychologists are committing all kinds of ethical violations that would be punished in the real world.

It's the Ted McGinley show, everyone else is just a supporting player.

That's fair - I more meant in the sense that the characters and their behavior/reactions are realistic to their personalities. Jimmy would've had Pauls practice shut down many times over for sure haha.

To comment on the articles - they seem 'butthurt' for lack of a better term. I definitely don't enjoy the show for its portrayal of therapy. I genuinely enjoy the characters and the psychology today article sure does a good job of taking the fun out of it. It's a fictional tv show, not a documentary on therapy and dealing with loss.

Last edit: I've been to therapy, it would make a ####ty tv show lol

Suspension of disbelief is needed in all shows.

Fair enough - but it’s not a science fiction show.

I can’t watch lawyer shows because they make it seem like we are all detectives solving murders. I know a show about creating documents would not be that interesting.

As long as they have a ticker showing the billables I'm sure all the lawyers would tune in weekly! Wait the show is only 22minutes...how did they get 28 billable hours?!

Finally started watching Squid Game and am enjoying it. As a person who watches TV with subtitles, it was comical how bad the subtitles were until you chose English SDH. Learned something new there.

What feels real about Shrinking isn't the therapy, it's the GenX parenting, adult friendships and dealing with grief that feels real. And some solid zingers every once in a while.

Finished Black Doves on Netflix and I thought it was pretty solid. There were a couple of leaps but overall very entertaining.
