But that doesn't fit the narrative so we'll brush it aside to focus on Gaudreau's size.

Do you think being a center matched against the opposition's top lines might have anything to do with that?

Interesting note. Happened to flip to Vancouver Hockey Lunch and McKenzie was on. He said in effect that Columbus wants a C and would like Brown OR Keller. That makes us the perfect trading partner, since at least one (and likely both) will be there at 6...

Would it be worth our while to trade 6th for 5th. If the Canucks want Brown, they could pick up another 2nd and still get their man but it would guarantee we get one of the top five.

I have been preaching this that one of our later seconds is totally worth securing one of Dubois or Tkachuk. Way rather have one of those forwards than Nylander/Keller/Brown/Dman

With Gaudreau's size being a scapegoat?

I think this is where Brad earns his money because the Canucks might take Brown at 5th anyways.

No, with Monahan's SCF number being higher (er, lower, in the negatives) than Gaudreau's. You pointed to that number as saying size has nothing to do with Gaudreau's ineffectiveness on the road, citing that stat, since that stat apparently evidences that Monahan was less effective on the road.

That stat is a road vs home split stat - the difference compared to themselves at home.
Both players struggled on the road, Monahan moreso than Gaudreau, yet the narrative being pushed is that Gaudreau just struggled on the road "because he's small", the implication being that bigger players are fine on the road.
It's dangerous to make claims like that. There are many, many reasons our stars struggled on the road. Both of them. Gaudreau's size is an easy cop-out.

I have full faith in Brad that he will will be able to blow everyone's socks off on draft day. It's going to be one of those days that you look back on in ten years and remember where you were.
I certainly hope it will be good memories though.

At first I thought this guy was affiliated with the NHL's central scouting, but he is an independent scouting service. Has worked for ISS, Redline and appeared on TSN.
Former scout for the Minnesota Wild.

I'd flip out if the Flames somehow managed to trade into Puljujarvi

Yep, especially now that I've accepted a Tkachuk/Dubois/Nylander/Juolevi/etc pick in my mind.
Trading up (for hopefully not a huge cost) to nab Puljujarvi would make my summer.

I have 100% Faith in the team and trust our scout's there the ones who watch all of the player's and have the best judgment on who is the best fit for the team .If they feel Keller has the most skill and the most up side to develop in to an all star then everyone else in the top 10 who am I to say there wrong they watch and talk to players and there coaches and other team's coachs. Like what they did with Johnny who ever we pick we are getting a very good player.

I wonder what the Habs would be willing to offer to move up to 6th from 9th. Their 2nd +?
If Tkachuk and Dubois are both gone at 6, and the Flames aren't sold on Brown or a d-man, they could drop to 9 and still get one of Nylander or Keller. Montreal's 2nd (39 OA) would be another round in the chamber, or it could be packaged with our 35 OA to move up into the late 1st. The Flames walk away with Nylander and Tufte?

9 + McCarron. We need all of the 2013 1st rounders.

I agree, trading down for the right price could be lucrative for the Flames.
