The Chiefs would have lost that game last year. They have a lot of work to do, but winning on the road when you play like crap is a very good sign.

I agree, the improvements on defense and special teams so far have been outstanding. Being 2-0 instead of 0-2 can give a team a lot more confidence. It also makes it a lot more fun for these guys to come to work.
They even have a good shot at going 3-0 with the 49ers coming to town on Sunday.

A question being pondered on ESPN today...yes its only 2 weeks in, but what is the biggest surprise so far?
Cowboys 0-2
Vikings 0-2
KC 2-0
Pittsburgh 2-0
Houston 2-0
Bears 2-0
Tampa 2-0
For me its a toss up between the Cowboys and the Bucs. I figured Dallas to be elite and they look anything but. And I figured the Bucs to be one of the worst 3 teams in the entire league but they look fairly solid and much better than expected.
The Vikes have lost 2, but both losses were to PO teams from last year whereas the Cowboys have lost to 2 teams who combined to go 11-23 last season. Thats ugly.

The worst thing for the Cowboys is that it looks like Romo has regressed. I think the favourite in the NFC East right now has to be Washington.

Maybe its just the division rival in me talking, but I'm not sold on the Bucs. I want to see what they look like when they're not playing Cleveland or Carolina.
Although I agree that, despite an easy starting sked, wins build confidence regardless. I think that was a big part of the reason why the Saints had such a solid '06 year. Started off against Cleveland and (then crappy) Green Bay, then an emotionally charged home game against Atlanta which you just knew they wouldn't lose. That 3-0 start (by a 3-13 team the year before) parlayed into an NFC Championship Game appearance.
For me it's gotta be the Steelers. Starting the season with Dixon at QB, against two tough teams in the Falcons and Titans. Being 2-0 speaks to what an unbelieveable D they have. Just completely shut down CJ2K.

I think it's the Cowboys and the Bucs, for the exact reasoning tranny mentioned.
Truthfully, I think plenty of people never did see the Vikings repeating what happened last year. But a loss to Detroit this week will throw this team into straight panic mode!

Hard to say if he's regressed or not. He's got no offensive line and the play-calling and coaching is atrocious. The NFC East might turn into the weakest division in the conference.

While I am disappointed the 49ers crapped the bed in week one, I am a bit surprised to see people already putting them to 0-3.

Who says they will lose tonight?
We just think they could lose next week

No way. It's still probably the strongest division as a whole in the NFC, or at least tied with the NFC North. The worst division by far is the NFC West.

With Arizona regressing this year, I'm seriously wondering if we're going to see a 7-9 team in the playoffs. That division is absolutely WIDE open, and not in a good way.

It's very possible although I believe the 49ers have a chance at 8-8. It's a little early to be writing off good teams (Cowboys, Vikings) or annointing any mediocre teams (Chiefs, Bucks) as teams on the rise.

If Tampa can get the right pieces around Freeman, they're going to be good. He's got "it", whatever that is. Obviously not this season, but sooner than anticipated.

So would you rather be the Bucks that have a young QB that seems to have that 'it' factor that the team can rally around or the Chiefs that so far have played well defensively and have come up with big plays winning despite their QB that has that 'not' factor?

For me, it's the Steelers. No question. I had them at 0-4 when Roethlisberger returned. They are already 2-0 and on their 2nd QB, and against 2 pretty good teams (IMHO). That defense has been incredible and Mike Tomlin is one hell of a coach.
The Cowboys don't surprise me at all. So overrated. They have a junk coaching staff that has never been able to do anything significant with a boatload of talented football players. I don't believe in Tony Romo. Why would this year be different? I am surprised they lost yesterday but I had them losing in Washington and I don't think they are the best team in that division.
I can't believe Chicago is 2-0. Of course, they shouldn't be but that win in Dallas could be huge for them.
Miami's two road wins are huge. You kind of expect them to win in Buffalo early in the year, but it's a slog always (and it was again) but I didn't think they could win in Minnesota. 2-0 with 8 home games left? Not a bad position. They're offense is going to have to step it up at some point though.

Apparently Brandon Jacobs is apparently going to request a trade. I don't think the Giants will get much more than a 5th round pick for him. I'm absolutely loving how thoroughly exposed New York got last night. Outside of the quarterback position, they are probably the worst team in the East.

Running backs are a dime a dozen in the NFL. I doubt he's even worth a 5th round pick.

Andy Reid confirmed that Kolb is likely to start next weekend. I don't know what to say. If Kolb is going to start, then Reid needs to quit dicking around and bringing Vick in every other play. McNabb complained last year that it got the offense out of sync, and it looked that way against the Packers, too.
Time to let Kolb sink or swim. If he can't beat Jacksonville and their god-awful secondary, then it's time to put the team on Vick's shoulders and see if he can carry them to the playoffs. The good news for Kolb is that it's a road game this week so the fans won't get on his back if he struggles early like they would in Philly.

Good question, I suppose it would depend on the team management philosophy. Franchise QB's don't seem to move very often, if they're willing to build through FA as well as the draft, I'd rather be Tampa in the long run.
I think KC is ahead of Tampa right now. They have a more complete team, and I believe those coordinators can hide Cassel's deficiencies.

2 totally different types of QBs, it will be a nightmare to try and scheme against. You scheme for a pure pocket passer and suddenly in comes a guy who can scramble. You try to plan for either or both of them and end up with half-assed game plan and pray your athletes can make up the difference. That is going to be a dilemma for any defensive coordinator the rest of the season.
