Still a ton of work to complete, and the commissioning phase of the tracks takes a lengthy amount of time as well. I remember the south Edmonton line looking like it was ready for months while they still did testing and worked out the kinks. Dec of 2012 is going to come really quick.

I was thinking it might open early too. It's tough to call though. There's lots to do.
Other than the stations, which are certainly coming along, there's four big tasks remaining:
- Track work (I know the half of the line from Westbrook -> Downtown gets handed over to the track layers this month, maybe the other half too)
- Catenary poles and stringing and electrical tie-ins to the substations
- Signals
- Testing (Transit has historically needed a month for the one or two station extensions in the 2000s, but with a line of this size, I would guess they will need much longer than that)
Like I say, it's tough to guess, but I would say it might open 3 months early. It certainly won't be late.

Quick poll - Am I posting too many photos and flooding the thread with them?
Also don't like "dominating" a thread - am I posting too much in general? (Sorry for dominating your thead sherminator)
Thinking I might update less if the consensus is yes to either of the above.

Keep all the updates coming, please.
The thread started as a place to whine about the construction that would cause traffic delays, but now it's a WestLRT info centre, and I very much appreciate it.
The pictures are fantastic! Maybe put each set of pictures in spoiler tags, so that once you look at the set once, you can open and close it as you please when you come back into the thread again.

I love the pictures. The only time I see any of the area is when I take the wrong exit off Crowchild.
Spoiler tag around each photo might be a good idea, but it also might be annoying. *shrug*

Each set of pictures, not each individual picture.

Agree with MMF- keep the pictures coming; but a spoiler tag around the set would be good.

I, for one, find your pictures and insights fascinating. Go ahead and throw the spoiler tags, but please do not stop posting them!

Having been fully immersed in this project because of where I live, I love the pictures, frinkprof. Keep 'em coming.

I'm bumping this thread just to let frinkprof know, I don't live in Calgary, I don't have any plans on visiting it any time soon (unfortunately) for a few years
I check this thread whenever I see a new post solely to see the pictures
Keep up the good work

I just wish the planning/design crews would have made the "arches" more elliptical/offset. Right now they're just close enough that uninformed people can't tell they're supposed to be that way. My mother is convinced that they've improperly installed the arches at Shaganappi Pointe station and the pedestrian bridge...

It's not your mother's fault, she just can't see quite straight after what I did to her last night.

I actually really like the look of that pedestrian bridge and the location suits the arch nicely.
