I like it when bands/artists are fluid and open to experimenting. With Our Lady Peace however, I think they strayed too far. That does not mean I didnt like their latest albums, but I was not the biggest fan of their new direction. Thankfully they are hinting that their new album will be more like Naveed than their latest stuff.
Also, is anyone else eagerly anticipating the new Matthew Good album 'Vancouver'?

Some of the songs I've heard sound really good from the album. I really like Coffee Girl and The Struggle Has a Name in particular!
If you kick around the website a bit you can find the week 11 studio update which has about 30 seconds of stuff from the record. It gives me great hope that it is going to be very ALICE.

cool...i found that clip and Dave Grohl is in the studio listening and claiming "that is bad ass".
I was a little weary about Alice in Chains continuing without Layne but I'm excited to hear it. Hopefully the new singer brings his own flare to the band, and hopefully its a solid good hard rock record. Those are in short supply these days.

Listening to the new Hip album now - it sounds like a mellow Springsteen record.
Cokemachineglow calls it the "worst" Hip record, blaming Bob Rock for the most part:

We Are the Same is the weakest album the Tragically Hip have ever released. Really, nothing else in their back catalog comes close.
Queen Of The Furrows is the only song that pricked up my ears so far. Speed River too.
I somewhat agree with the review. Most of the songs aren't as bad as they make them out to be, but Bob Rock's production is totally overbearing. In any case I do give the Hip points for attempting a record that is somewhat different to their usual.

Those two are my favourites as well.
Like you don't even know.

I've only heard "Great Whales of the Sea" and was very impressed. It's obviously just a rough scratch he did in garageband, but it was still bad-ass!
I picked up the new Silversun Pickups album yesterday and it sounded very strong from the few tracks I listened to. Very layered.
I also picked up some choice cuts from the new Hip album (I know, i hate it when people do that too). REALLY enjoy The Last Recluse. I recommend it strongly.

Same problem with most of the new Springsteen albums. Decent songs, awful production. At this age, Springsteen should be sounding more like Tom Waits, but the producer wants him to sound more like 3 Doors down.

What? Lifeline was crap. Ben needs a really solid outing on this one. His last few efforts have not been great (save for the second disc on "Both Sides of the Gun").

This album was leaked a while ago. Its scheduled to for a 4/20 release.
Don't know if I'm really feeling it...
Heard that guy a little while back, thought it was Eminem from the sound of his voice. Not too bad. I do like that I love college song, I'm sure it will be played out soon enough.
In new release news, a hip hop group from Philadelphia named Black Landlord has released the album Addicted to Distraction. It's on lastfm and Imeem if anyone uses those. Pretty good stuff. People will want to say "it's like the Roots" because they have a live band with everything, but it really isnt. It's more like if Soullive or Dirty Dozen Brass Band added an MC. Lots of horns, electric guitar etc. Pretty decent stuff, especially with the amount of crap that gets put out and called "hip-hop" nowadays.
