The last 5 years or so have been pretty good IMO. I'm not an SNL vet like you, but Samburg, Sudekis, Thompson, Meyers, Hader, Wiig, etc... was an excellent cast that had me howling on many occasions. Guys like Timberlake and Jon Hamm hosting multiple times helps as well.
If you have Netflix, I recommend checking out the last couple seasons of the 2000's and the first couple of the 2010's.

I'll give this episode a pass mostly because the guests did a very good job. Bruce Willis was great despite some really akward moments.
Katy Perry in a school girl outfit took it over the top.

They usually rerun a commercial sketch if something got cut from the show after the rehearsal with nothing decent to replace it.
Strange that used one so new, especially with them rerunning the Tina episode next week, that commercial will have run during three of the first four week's of the season.

Does that one new cast member only have that one bad comedian character? Cause it's just not funny. He is not going to last if he can't come up with or do something else.

How was Bruce Willis? I heard he was greedy and lazy.

He was Bruce Willis. He always appears uninterested and aloof. He did that through most of the skits.
Except Boy Dance Party. I quite liked the whole skit. I will now yell, "shake, shake, shake that sack" at various men for the rest of my life.

Really, really bad episode. That "chune" skit where the son was being a dick was awful. So was that space one with the cat. Just painful to get through.
I liked the frat party skit and I really enjoyed the tattoo piece during Weekend Update.

The Chun skit was one of my favorites for the night, the cast members were cracking up. Just like when they did the Glice routine from last season.
The cat skit was just stupid.

I don't understand why they keep rehashing the cat skit. It wasn't funny the first time. It's not gonna be funny the 3rd or 4th time. Moynahan should just stick with drunk uncle has his recurring character... and maybe as the chick who picks up stars at concerts.

Holy #### does Eminimen ever suck, that was horrid. Not even sure if any of his rapping was live, just a bunch of gibberish over an old Billy Squier song. What a mess.
Throw Jay Z and Kanye West in the same boat, I've actually listened to these guys to see what the supposed best in the rap game sound like and they are garbage.

I didn't know who Kerry Washington was before this show, but she was a solid guest. Her Miss Uganda bit was friggin' hilarious.

I am going to go ahead and agree with you on Eminem. I have never got his appeal.
Will disagree on Kanye and Jay-Z. Kanye on SNL and even in concert is very very good. I saw Jay Z at the dome for Blueprint 3 and it was probably the best hip hop show I have been to. He had a full band backing him up, just incredible.

Saying eminem sucks is quite a stretch. He is widely regarded as one of the best rappers of all time....
I agree he sucked last night though and I dont like that song but he is still the greatest artist of this generation in terms of the whole package (imo of course) so I think we can let it slide.
If I went off snl performances than I would have never checked out Lana Del Rays music either. And that would have sucked.

Kerry Washington did a great job, and Eminem was indeed horrible (although I'm a fan in general).

SNL has really struggled so far this year, but there were some good skits. I loved the opening making fun of themselves for anticipatorily requiring Kerry Washington to play all black female characters. I also liked 'What Does My Girl Say?'. Week-end Update with Shaq was funny too.

Agreed. Her presence alone was reason to turn in, though she also did a great job hosting.
