Missed opportunity for Gabriel Diallo just now as he loses to Ethan Quinn 7-6 6-2 in his final qualifying match to make the IW main draw. I wonder if he decides to try to get into the Arizona Tennis Classic in Phoenix which starts next week.

Too bad, Alexis Galarneau lost in straight sets to PCB in his final qualifying match.

Late night tennis in IW between Zhang and Diallo ends up with the match being suspended due to rain tied at 4-4 in set 3. Gabriel rebounded from a poor 1st set to play much better in sets 2 and 3 and had multiple break point chances in set 3, but couldn't cash in.

High noon mountain time JF plays JF (Joao Fonseca vs. Jacob Fearnley). Winner gets Jack Draper.

Diallo is the 2nd match on Stadium 3 today so around 1:30 our time? To finish set 3.

Hopefully he had a good sleep and is able to pick back up where he left off. This would be a really nice win for him and great chance to play and learn from another skilled player in Fils next round.

It is very windy at IW today, already two points had to be stopped and replayed due to a towel being blown onto the court and Fonseca losing his cap.

We need a 3rd set to determine whether it will be Fearnley or Fonseca to take on Jack Draper in round 2.
Edit: Joao Fonseca prevails in a pretty good match vs. Jacob Fearnley. Looking forward to see how Joao matches up verses Jack Draper.

Gabriel and Zhang are warming up as I type, I hope one of the main TSN channels (TSN5) switches to that match when it restarts.
Edit: Diallo did hold serve and Zhang is now swerving at 4-5 in set 3.

Diallo holds from 15-40 down and is guaranteed at worst a 3rd set tie-break.

Gabriel!!! After letting three match points slip away, he saves two match points in the 3rd set tie-break and then takes the match 9-7 in the tie-break. Next up is Arthur Fils.

Good for him under tough circumstances having to come through Qs as a LL and play a match over 2 days. All these matches against top 50 players are stacking towards something big for Diallo.
If he can knock off Fils again he's going to get himself into fully automatic main draw territory moving forward and set himself up well for the rest of the season.

Kyrgios isn't a serious tennis player any longer and stole a spot in the main draw from a much more deserving player. No tourney should be extending any wild cards to this clown. His wrist was bothering him a couple of days ago and he could have withdrawn and given a spot to a lucky loser, but no he thought only of himself.

I’ll admit I checked in on this match, so I guess IW got what they wanted. Boy does he ever look out of shape, wonky wrist or not.
How much things changed since I saw him take Djokovic down at this tournament in person, 8 years ago

All right, Griekspoor knocks off the abuser and the German shows his class with a drive-by handshake. Yesterday Kyrgios and today Zverev, this tourney got rid of all the rats early!!
Oh and Happy Zverev Elimination Day everyone!!
