Dependent on where Devin Cooley slots in (I have reservations about him being backup to Wolf in the NHL).
I still would like them to sign Sergeev.
Can always park a goalie in the ECHL if necessary.

Didn't mind them taking a chance on Ignatjew, though it obviously didn't work out. The AHL is a great place to roll the dice on project goalies. Once in a while it works out (David Rittich) though often it does not (Ignatjew, Zagidulin et. al).

Bakersfield won last night, is now within 7 points with 5 games remaining for them. Calgary has a 2-game set with Abbotsford this weekend where they could clinch. Abbotsford has won 13 in a row, but the last team to beat them was the Wranglers.

Wranglers snap Abbotsford's 13-game win streak with a 5-4 shootout win.
Goals: Frk with the hat trick, and Kerins
Assists: Kerins, Morton, Tullio, Bru, Poirier, Stromgren
Shootout goals by Frk and Stromgren
Ignatjew with 26 saves, allowed 1 goal in the shootout.
Calgary is 1 win or 1 Bakersfield loss from clinching. Calgary plays Abbotsford again tonight; Bakersfield beat San Diego 5-0 last night and takes on Coachella Valley tonight.

To clinch, they needed either Tucson or Bakersfield to lose, or to get at least one point against Abbostford. Tucson and Bakersfield both lost and they won in Abbotsford, so they got way more than they needed.
They are now tied with San Jose and their final 2 games of the regular season are next weekend against San Jose.

So who is eligible to go to the Wranglers if we don't make the playoffs?

I believe it's only Klapka, Hunt, and Parekh. They were all under contract but not in the NHL at the trade deadline.
----------
Also, I believe Hunt would need to clear waivers to be sent down because he has been on the roster for more than 30 days.

would Morin and Gridin theoretically qualify? (when their seasons end)

Yes, anyone in junior, or any college signings who sign a contract that starts next season can go to the AHL when their seasons end.

Two Frozen Four captains are making their pro debuts with the Wranglers today against San Jose.
Penn State captain (and teammate of Arsenii Sergeev), Simon Mack, who signed an ATO earlier this week, is wearing #33 and Denver captain, Carter King is wearing #44.

Yeah, it will be interesting to see what the Flames do for a backup next season. At the start of this season, it looked like it could be Cooley (even coming up mid-season if Vladar got traded), but that doesn't seem likely anymore.

Cooley was an all star halfway through the season. Didn't he get injured soon after?
It all fell apart after that.

It's too bad they couldn't have had Sergeev or Say on PTOs. Sure, it would've been trial by fire, but those two are likely the Wranglers tandem in the fall.

looks like he was injured for ~2 weeks in January.
Before the injury, in 25 games, he was 17 wins, 7 losses, 2.29 GAA, 0.921sv%
After the injury, in 16 games, he was 1 win, 15 losses, 4.39 GAA, 0.864sv%

Powerplay Quarterback

Wow was that ugly! I expected Carter to be a bit lost with only two practices but everyone else was too! Really hope that was an anomaly.
