Why am I not shocked its Spurs and Flamesfan05 who are pumping Gaudreau's tires over a current Flame player

like I said, you do the deal for the contract alone if all things are even...they wouldn't be though. The Flames would have to eat salary to even out the contracts if Gaudreau wanted to come back (he doesn't)

Huberdeau right now is a better player and he actually takes care of his body off the ice

You can say Gaudreau had bad linemates last season but Huberdeau was playing with Lucic at times FFS. Gaudreau was cheating for points and Huberdeau certainly wasn't under Sutter.

LOL

Pumping his tires, again I said I didn't want him back.

If you seriously think that Gaudreau didn't have a better year than Hubredeau last season that is insane levels of homerism.

Crying because people are pointing out reality LOL

I think his Uncle and probably his dad does for sure. Hell, he probably would too except he isn't going to rock the boat that put him in Columbus in the first place. It isn't Johnny Hockey anymore, it's Johnny Family.

Unlike Huberdeau who clearly gives effort every night I rarely see that from Gaudreau. He doesn't even remotely look like the Gaudreau that was here. I don't know if that is because he is unhappy with the team or he just does not prioritize hockey anymore but I would not trade anything for him at this point including Huberdeau.
So first off, I didn’t say he was playing hard or playing with passion, I actually said his lack of effort shouldn’t be excused and implied that his benchings were fair. My exercise was simply about analyzing his attributes to conclude whether his poor play was due in part to something mental or physical (i.e. lost a step) and whether or not his game could translate elsewhere, that’s all.

I also suspect that rival scouts are already doing this, seeing if he’s a possible buy low candidate ala Ryan O’Reilly. It wasn’t that long ago Ryan was lamenting about how he lost the love for the game while playing for the Sabres and then finished the season with a -23.

Then he gets traded to the Blues and proceeds to win the Stanley Cup, Selke and Conn Smythe the following season. That’s pro sports, sometimes losing a lot affects you mentally and in turn your physical performance, but that doesn’t mean there still isn’t a good player there which I believe he still is. To finish off my point though just in case there’s any confusion, I don’t think a Huberdeau-Gaudreau trade will ever happen.

not sure he was better...Huberdeau was actually decent defensively last year Sutter had him playing both ways

Huberdeau is better this season so far...not 5 games, the entire season
Gaudreau was definitely better last season, it’s not even a question. If Huberdeau had 74 points last season, he would’ve lead the Flames in scoring and all these “what’s wrong with Huberdeau” threads wouldn’t even exist.

Also, based on my research, Gaudreau’s poor +/- is directly tied to how bad his team’s performance is, especially the defense and centermen, not so much the wingers on the team. There’s only so much wingers can do when their team’s play down low and behind the net is such a fire drill.

I think I even saw Patrik Laine doing some work as a center which just shows how piss poor the Blue Jackets depth up the middle is. Slotting a natural winger as your center is a complete joke.

In one of the shifts I watched, Laine skates down low to retrieve a puck and literally slips and falls down on his own volition, gets up and proceeds to turn the puck over leading to a scoring chance against. That’s the Columbus Blue Jackets right now.

No, because it's not serious other than with fans contemplating it.

Saying Gaudreau was better as a Flames is pumping his tires? lol

Anyway, how do you know how they take care of their body? You are their wife or something?

In Flames 4th round draft pick news:
Since he was recalled on November 4, Pospisil has 3 goals and 2 assists in 7 games played. He also leads the team with a +7 rating.

Since November 4, Gaudreau has 1 goal and 1 assist in 8 games played and is a team-low -7 in that time.

Is there a chance that the family doesn’t love Columbus as much as they thought or miss Calgary more than they anticipated?

His family? No doubt in my mind. Johnny actually bought a house in Calgary that last year, he never wanted to leave. His parents were spending a lot of time in Calgary as well and I have nothing concrete but their were rumours they were looking at houses in Calgary as well. In the end is doesn't matter what did or didn't happen or if he or his family wanted him in Calgary or not, he is a meek guy who hates confrontation and he surely was not going to start it with a new wife with his child on way and his in-laws. He is a super talented player so he isn't going to fall out of the league but unless something unforeseen happens he is never going to be a star player again. In the end what matters is if he is happy, I truly hope he is.

I have a really hard time believing it. He didn’t leave for hockey reasons, so why would he want to come back? Calgary is a worse family situation and neutral hockey situation.

Johnny gave off the impression of someone who wanted out of the fishbowl limelight and associated pressure. I don't believe he was looking up the mountain trying to climb higher when he left, I think he was comfortably looking down.

This is how it works.

Flames 4th rounders are all-worldly, but only whilst they're Flames property.

It's well documented that Gaudreau eats like garbage and barely trains

This is a big thing as players get older. You can skate by on talent up to a certain age then you have to work at it. Dany Heatley is always the guy that comes to mind who just fell off a cliff once he hit a certain age.

Its worse for a player like Heatley who was never a good skater.

You don't recover like you did when are in your early 20's. Working out, eating right, sleep, no partying all these things play a big part.

Kind of what worried me about keeping Tkachuk once your skating goes and you are not a great skater to begin with that's trouble.
