The thing is that Treliving wasn't that far off from being a great GM. This is a good person to be in the mold of. It's pretty easy to identify his mistakes in hindsight, and Conroy could be the type to put it all together.

This is my concern, maybe Conroy just loves Calgary so much he wasn't willing to move away, but if he had a different vision from Treliving there was plenty of time for him to away from the club. I have doubts that he would stay for 9 years and think the team was building in the wrong way.

Im not opposed to him but i would certainly prefer a new/fresh set of eyes and thoughts in the big chair.

They aren't going to reset the team on ice so they may need a new injection of ideas and execution above it all.
Sure, but how different are lenses ever going to be?

The new GM is going to have to follow the same organizational philosophies and restrictions, so no difference there, even if you bring in an outsider.

The differences lie in player selection, type of player, and the type of team you want to build. And every person will see that through their own lens.

Yeah and Brad is getting a ton of hate because of the playoffs Tkachuk is having. Seriously feels like he was holding back in Calgary.

People also forget the Flames had Tkachuk as #2 on their list and had a trade worked out to move up to the #3 spot to take him but found out what Columbus and Vancouver would do and stayed at 6 and got Tkachuk.

It was a talented draft and they identified him as the 2nd best prospect with Matthews as a lock at 1.

Brad is a smart hockey mind and Conroy learning from him only makes him that much better.

I disagree.

He may see things through a similar lens, for sure. But he may have also spent the last 4 years wanting to do things differently but knowing his role and making suggestions and going with his boss's final say.

Or he may agree with what Treliving has wanted to do, but is aware that the department isn't allowed to do that due to ownership direction. Maybe he has a view how do handle it differently.

I know I worked for people for years as a trader, but had a very different view on how to trade the market. Then took over and completely changed how we did things.
