I thought Eric Francis was getting at a good point in the first intermission of the BUF game: if you're going to trade futures to go for it, and you think you're entering a winning window, then sacrifice the draft picks instead of prospects--especially if the AHL team is winning too.
There is method in trading so many picks and not prospects.

It's now been 5 games, he has 1A and is +1 with 9 SOG and 50% FO percentage.
I haven't really followed every minute of every game very closely. What are your thoughts on him now? He didn't quite make an opening splash like Toffoli did. Should he get a chance to play on the first line with his cousin if Sutter wants to shake up the lines temporarily again?

He wasn't expected to make a splash like Tyler Foli, but overall I think he's been fine for what he's supposed to bring. Don't have any advanced stats in front of me, but my eye test says he's been unlucky to not score a couple goals, and he's pretty tenacious on the puck.
He's been a bit unlucky not to have more goals/points from what I've seen. He got absolutely robbed of a goal in his first game vs the Sabres (IIRC?) for example
He plays fast, he checks well. He puts good pressure on the puck carrier. He’s been decent on retrieving the puck and generating chances. PK2 looks more dangerous with him and seems to be able to enter the zone a bit easier.
As far as points go, he was robbed on a couple of chances, and had some bad puck luck. It does look as though he still didn’t quite build up chemistry with his teammates. It was evident from passes being slightly behind him, and him being just a bit late to react to several plays in the offensive zone.

The Flames now have a top nine with three Swedes up the middle providing a defensive conscious. That's tough to game plan against.
Teams with two scoring lines have to do a lot more hop scotch when they have to avoid three lines instead of two.
Jarnkrok has allowed the Flames to go from two good lines to three.
Yeah 3 solid lines is very hard to defend against and will overwhelm most teams quickly. I watched Carolina Washington last night and they were just all over them.

The numbers certainly echo Bingo’s post. Jarnkrok has stabilized the top-9.
If Monahan can come back into the line-up and help form a 4th line that can keep its head above water at even strength, it’s going to be very very difficult for teams to exploit any of our lines during the playoffs. Key is going to be to give Monahan wingers that can do that. Hopefully Looch gets some rest down the stretch and then can dial it back up to his early-season performance.

I like how Jarn has done at Center so far. Originally i wanted to see: Coleman-Backlund-Jarnkrok
Mangiapane- Dube-Toffoli
Those 2 lines are both bad at faceoffs though, if Jarnkrok can stay above 50% on faceoffs I think our depth benefits
