Geoff Ward is blisteringly incompetent. Yes, the players are the wrong mix - but the levels of the ineffectiveness at even strength is downright impressive.

I find the most insightful commentary is your best players have to be your best players myself. What we need is a coach who can coach that, go to the best players and give them the ole Melania Trump and tell them “Be Best”. That is the system I want.

The Flames are just a mediocre team, which is why they are so inconsistent. They can beat good teams when they have great games. However, they can lose to anybody any night because they don’t have the talent to win despite bad efforts. I think I’m on the blow it up in the offseason side. The team has just done the same thing for too long.

Yup three things wrong with this team right now.
1) Coaching
2) Star players aren’t playing like Stars
3) lack of forward depth
But the thing is you can’t really fix 2 and 3 in season. But you might be able to fix number 1) which could actually help turn number 2 and even number 3 around to some extent.
But IMO there is going to be no appetite from the GM or ownership to make the required changes right now.
In reality this team should probably be firing the coach and the GM tomorrow

This core was the highest scoring team in the west two seasons ago. Sure there's mix issues, but it's cringe worthy watching dump and chase on offense and collapse on defense every night

You know things are going great when the majority of the fanbase is generally happy with Gaudreau this season despite him scoring at a similar rate to last season (.87 points per game vs .83 points per game last season).
And that's not even to spite Johnny. For the most part, I've been pretty happy with him too. It just goes to show how f****** horrible Geoff Ward hockey is that we've become happy with that type of production from an offensive star
