Uggh. Had to happen but so ridiculous that everyone outside the organization is able to so clearly identify the problem and yet it continues to repeat itself. Groundhog Day has nothing on the Oilers organization.....

The greatest thing to come out of that was confirmation that these recent moves were not Chiarelli's. So canning him means the fun continues.

I noticed that too. I wonder if he even understand what that means himself at this point.

Oh they know it too. But how do they tell that to the owner with his collection of real life action figures?

Nicholson on the next Oilers GM: "When we find a candidate who fits the culture of the Organization we will hire him."

I am surprised there was no mentioning of Principe's question. With a tremble in his voice, he asked if Nicholson had consulted McDavid about the firing decision and McDavid's reaction. No kidding! Nicholson's response was (paraphrasing): "Yes, and it was very positive"... LOL

Boomer Gordon on NHL radio once again ripping the Oilers.
That press conference was delusional, like drinking pine sol. "There's something in the water" is a fireable offence. They have no idea what the problem is, Nicholson doesn't have a clue. They're playing high school hockey. They ruin kids. No idea why McDavid signed an 8 year contract, he's stuck with that mess. Hockey is getting smarter, the Oilers are not.
Love it.

The only thing that concerns me a little is that this seems to have (finally) woken up the Oilers fan base. The trifecta of the delusional organization, media, and fans seems to have been broken a little bit here, and I fear that with the fans starting to ask questions, the media might be next, and then eventually there will be enough pressure to enact real change at that organization.
Hopefully not for a little while yet though. There is so much potential here to further diminish the returns of all of those draft picks, I hope that any real change happens over the ashes of the dumpster fire, not soon while it is blazing bright.

Crazy....I would not publicly confess to making knee jerk senior management decisions. If your arguement is that it wasn't knee-jerk because we waited from Sunday morning to Tuesday evening...then I dont think you understand what a knee-jerk decision is...

If we've learned anything about Oiler fans it's that as soon as they win the next game they'll be talking playoffs, Cup and dynasty, in that order.
