I myself am kind of glad we didn't poison his legacy as a Flame with the abortion that was 2017/2018. We got to see Jagr score a goal in a Flames jersey and that's good enough for me.

Not publicly but maybe behind the scenes. They kept saying he was retiring as a Flame.

I want to thank Iginla for pulling the '04 Flames all the way to the 7th game of the Cup Finals. It was that prolonged playoff run that allowed me to realize that I could grow an impressive beard, and I've been a bearded man ever since. My wife specifically loves my bearded face, and has said that my shaved face just doesn't do the same thing for her. Since we met through an online dating site, I doubt she would have bothered to contact me if I didn't have that beard in the picture.

So, in a roundabout way, Jarome Iginla helped me find a wife. How many players can do that?

Thank you Iggy, for having me become a fan of the Flames at such an early age.

You’ll always be my favorite player.

Iggy talking about not getting to win a championship just now..

He still has every chance to do so in an organizational/coaching capacity. And you know the ovation will be as big as if he were still a player on the ice.

Just going back to the presser when Jarome was telling the story of the 2010 Olympics. Just listening to the way he talks about it, you can just feel he was one of the more influential voices on that team. A leader.

And the way he talks about Crosby scoring, he doesn't even bring up the fact he was the one who made that pass. He takes 0 credit and gives 100% to Crosby and the guys on that team. A teammate first mentality.

What. A. Legend.

He's my favorite player of all time. Congrats on a fantastic career Iggy! I wish I could have seen you hoist the cup but that doesn't diminish what a special player you truly were. It was amazing to watch you play over all those years. Thanks for all the wonderful memories!

Onions. Enjoy retirement Iggy, thank you for all the memories. Would love to see him back with the organization in some capacity. To see him get that cup with Flames... Onions.

Not to diminish from Iggy or anything, but you might want to include Kiprusoff in on that one too

It saddens me that not only the Calgary Flames, but the NHL as a whole will likely never have a player like Jarome Iginla ever again. Not only could he do everything on the ice at an elite level, he was also one of the best people ever to be a part of our community. I literally have nothing bad to say about Jarome Iginla the player or Jarome Iginla the human being.

So freaking lucky to have him on our team and to represent our city. Unlikely we'll have another player like him again. Enjoy your retirement, Iggy!!
