Thanks for the share! I can't imagine growing up after the loss of a parent. That's a tremendous thing that he does for those kids. Hopefully being in Calgary brings him closer to his family. They seem to be very close.

Great trade. Congrats to the Flames.

Don't be too hard on him. Nobody wants to play in Winnipeg. The Jets are a development team.

Great trade. Congrats to the Flames.

It seemed like such a good fit I'm not sure how Chevy couldn't get it done if he was really interested in the player. I imagine he thought Trouba was worth more than just Hamonic or maybe the Islanders didn't feel they could afford to pay Trouba what he was ultimately going to want during contract negotiations?

Have a gut feeling we'll see a Player's Tribune article from Travis in the months to come.

Jeez, that video is heavy stuff but he seems like a good dude off the ice and a tough one on, which is exactly what we need.

Shored up at the back, hopefully we keep Stone.
It's now hoping that Ferland continues his resurgence on the top line and that the second line takes attention away from the first line as far as the other teams focus. If the Flames are a one line team up front it doesn't matter how the defence and goaltending is.
They haven't replaced the skill and savvy of Hudler and not sure they will, so its up for some guys like Bennett to take it up a notch and Tkachuk to have another good year.

"Just" 2 years of a 4-year window is a lot. I am not saying there were or were not better options in goal - I am just making the comment that goaltending is yet again a huge question mark and that concerns me. Hopefully, it turns out ok. In was confident Elliott would be good enough and he was awful. I am less confident with Smith (due to age mostly). I really like the team otherwise (Brouwer excepted). I pray the goaltending doesn't **** us again...

As proven by the Edmonton Oilers that is not necessarily true at all.

The Jets are just a continuation of the Thrashers, perpetually stuck somewhere between basement team and playoff team, no matter what kind of great prospects they manage to pump out.

What was the point of trading picks for a D, when you could have just gotten Stone signed(who you traded a 2nd round pick for), and just signed Franson or Demers for cheap and given one of the kids a chance. This is horrible assest management.

While I'm happy about the direction we're headed... and really enjoyed watching Nashville...
...the back-to-back Champs who beat the Preds prove building from offence works quite well as well.
What we've seen from Chicago, Pittsburgh and Nashville recently is that building with a direction - whether offence or defence - is the key to success. Not just plugging holes.

But it's not a lot compared to the alternatives, and we needed someone to play goal this season.
Everyone hopes it turns out well. Just seemed odd to complain about the length of contract when that seems to be one of the biggest reasons we went with Smith.

Because Hamonic is better? and they can still sign Stone? and Hamonic has a low cap hit whuch helps with other types of asset management? Maybe Franson and Demers dont want to come to Calgary?

I'm conflicted. Hopefully BT can find a way to recoup picks in the next year because the '18 draft is supposed to be special.
But now it's up to the internal growth of our youth. Need to see some big strides from a lot of players/prospects next season.

lol this is twice now Tre has snagged a top 4 dman out from under Chiarelli's nose. Imagine the Oilers with Hall, Hamonic and Hamilton... that would've been scary! Instead it's Larsson, Russell and nothing (Reinhart).

lol, last week you declared the Oilers as a better team than the Flames because they seemed to be mentioned more actively in trade rumours.
They were after Hamonic or a d just like him.
Flames go out and get him, solidify their D as one of the best in the league, and you're still complaining.
It's beyond obvious what you're about at this point.

I worded that poorly. Debil only posts to be a downer. I don't recall seeing a post, though, when it was really warranted. So the posts seem designed to douse enthusiasm. Speaking generally.
