Now that I think about it, no point at all now. Until I start seeing some downloadable games I want that might push the storage space there is no point having an expensive empty card sitting it.

For the discussion on transferring saves, I don't think that is an issue for memory cards, because the saves are stored on the console, so the only reason to want to get them on an SD card would be to move them to another system. probably the worst that would happen if you got a bigger card and couldn't copy it on a PC would be to re-download the games. The saves should stay on the system.

I would much prefer the saves stay online. Right now, if the system is damaged, you lose your saves. Completely not acceptable.

I'm not sure how people are expecting nintendo to be storing saves in the cloud while they haven't even got their online infrastructure in place. Give it time. I'm sure save data on external storage will come in time as well.

The issue is that they have a brand new system that may have some failed units. You would thank that since they have an E-store, user IDs and memory cards, there is no real leap to providing some save backup options. This is 2017 - they have had plenty of time.

It's 2017 and Nintendo just released a console that uses cartridges. Why are we surprised that they're years behind in other areas?

I prefer cartridges. After unloading and loading games on my Xbone and PS4 (nearly daily for the kids), cartridges help avoid that.

You can choose to download your games, but having instant access via cartridge is great.

Cartridges are far superior to discs. Nintendo got this one absolutely right.

Especially in a device that is meant to be portable.

Anyone have any luck tracking one down without pre-ordering? I'd love to grab one this week

They're likely all gone at this stage - but I believe Shopper's Drug Mart had some in. At this stage you're probably looking for the next shipment (don't know when that is - but shouldn't be long)

Use these sites and setup an alert, would be a good start.

I'm about 10 hours in to Zelda now. Nintendo hit a grand slam with this game. Even my wife likes watching me play it, and she's never done that for a game before. Still can't believe a game of this caliber is on a mobile system.

My pre-order (BestBuy.ca) has been updated to "expected delivery date: 03/06/17" . That's a nice lil' Monday surprise.

I've got this on the way:

Looks like it is coming from the UK via Royal Mail, so may be a little while...
