I really want Calgary to get Bishop over Elliott... But what is he thinking??? If Treliving passes on 7x7 (and he likely will), Bishop's chances of getting anything remotely close to such term next year are slim to none.

You're good, but you're not the Crosby of goaltenders. 6x6 would be the max reasonable offer to make. No team will agree to that.

Even 6x6 is very aggressive. It should be declining scale if he wants a longer term.

Never mind the dollar amount, unless we're talking a franchise type of guy, 7 years for a goalie just seems insane. Goalies seem to turn over every few years in this league, there are very few guys who can play that long at a high level....and personally I don't think any of them are named Bishop.
At this stage, Id much rather go with a Reimer/Ortio combo, and see what happens next year prior to the Expansion draft.

I'm thinking he knows the same thing. Hes trying to get everything he can and probably thinks this is his best shot.
Unfortunately he isnt well acquainted with Brad. Or market economics.

If I had it, I'd happily pay 50M to see the Flames hoist the Cup again. Small price to pay.
That said, here's hoping the ask is actually more along the lines of 7m for five years.

Bishop is dreaming if he thinks he can get 7x7 from the Flames. For one thing the term is to long and with his past injuries that's too much of risk.

Not for a 1 year UFA...but if the deal is only done based on an extension for a vezina nominated top 5 goaltender, most important positional player, its going to be substantial. So if not 6 what is it then?
