I would guess his relationship with his Mother is not normal. Sort of Batesish.

With how much contempt he seems to have for women, I wouldn't be surprised if it was his mom who hit him in the head in the rock fights...Like really? Rock fights? I mean we've all done stupid #### as kids, but redass was probably about as far as any of us would go.
