Siri should be fully functional in Canada with iOS6.

From what I've read Siri will have significantly more Canadian functionality in iOS 6 (it reads as ALL the same functionality as in the US), which you can put on your 4S. I'm looking forward to trying it. Having said that Siri is pretty poor at understanding me right now

Using the GM of iOS 6 and Siri works perfectly for Canadian locations and the turn-by-turn also works really well.

When I get the new Iphone, how will i be able to transfer my contacts, text convo, calender info from my old one to the new one?
And then I'll be giving my wife my I4 who will need to do the same from her I3.
Thank you,

Locations don't work in Canada, so it cannot answer questions such as "what is the weather like?", you have to say "what is the weather like in Calgary?"
And I am not sure why, I suspect to reduce the load on the Apple servers as they work out the bugs

You can make a backup of your phone on iCloud or on iTunes, and when you get the new phone just restore from the backup. Everything will then be identical.

I view folks like Polak to be very similar to Dave Chappelle's black klan leader character. They preach and scream all the while somehow unaware that they are complaining about their own behaviour.
To me the sheep argument is not unlike comparing something to Hitler, in that as soon as you bring it up you show a certain level of ignorance. To assume people will continuously buy a product that doesn't make them happy is to be unaware of marketing and business. It's an argument meant to be inflammatory. Live and let live.
There are many fine Android supporters just as there are many fine Apple supporters, so don't think I'm saying all Android fans are obnoxious.

How does it do LTE better? Doesn't the S3 feature the LTE bands exactly like the iPhone does?

Locations work just fine, like the above post and what I mentioned earlier enabling them is very easy.
I do agree that the most likely reason is to reduce the load. Siri's main problems is its capability to understand.
When I say "what was the score of the calgary flames game last night" I think responding with "do you want me to google that for you" vs the Svoice showing me the box score is a major fail.
I had to download another tweak to get it to actually tell me scores instead of asking Google.

Essentially the same argument from you back then.
AAPL closing price on Jan 20th, the date of that post. $420.30
How long will that last? I'm not sure, and perhaps a comment of "Sell AAPL, buy GOOG" is better than just "sell AAPL, realize your gains".
|
Why not just buy both? If you believe they/either have good growth opportunities, good products, good upside and are well run companies with solid fundamentals - why the heck not? Why let fanboyism/emotional preclude you from investing/making money off either stock or enjoying your selection of cell phone purchases?
I still don't get why people make such emotional battlegrounds for themselves in the name of blind fanaticism. Soon you'll have to add cell phone maker to the list of "Don't mention religion or politics on a first date."
. . . cue the joke about Apple/Android fanboys never getting a date in the first place.

Well I guess I'm the only person who knows overzealous iFanatics.
My posts are based on my experience. I have a few friends that upgrade basically every time an apple product comes out and rant and rave about how superior Macbooks are, proclaiming "THEY DONT GET VIRUSES!" as if it's his families creed. I even know one guy who has had the the 3, 4, 4S and declared a long time ago that the 5 is going to be sick and that he's getting it for sure and even after yesterday, he still thinks it's a sound purchase.
Do these things really effect me? No. Is it going to wreck my day? Not at all. Am I going to ridicule them when they bring it up? Yes I am.
And to those who think I'm some sort of Android fanatic, I'm not. I had the Galaxy S, didn't like it (I like the OS not the phone), switched back to my Nokia when it started glitching badly and then recently bought the S3 cause I thought it was a dramatic upgrade and looked great... I lost that phone and I was geniunely waiting to hear the IPhone specs before deciding what to get but like most, it didn't seem worth while.

As I understand it, the S3 has all of the LTE bands covered in its range of S3 phone, US and International but the iPhone 5 has all of the bands in one phone.
The practical consideration is that the iPhone can use LTE across the world, wherever available, while the S3 can access LTE selectively based on the version, US or International.

Incorrect. The European iPhone 5 is a different model for European LTE bands.
North American model is for the North American LTE carriers.

And regardless, wouldn't actually feeling the benefit of LTE while roaming end with you being in one of those new stories with a 5 figure phone bill?
To be honest, when I had the S3 I didn't even notice a difference between being on 3G or LTE.

Yes you are right there is a European iPhone 5, but the NA model is still compatible with the European 1800mHz LTE. Just not the other way around.
Quote:
This means that if you buy an iPhone 5 in Europe, you won’t be able to roam in the US on LTE, at all. However, the CDMA A1429 supports 1800MHz, so if you buy that one in the US, you should then be able to use in on 1800MHz LTE networks in the UK such as EE.

I'm suprised there isn't more discussion of Apple ditching google apps like youtube and maps.
Do you think their own versions of these will be better, worse, the same? How much control will Apple have with making an app for youtube if youtubes parent is currently in a fued with Apple?
