Rained most of the day at Wimbledon.

Wozniak won the 2nd set in her match and will begin the 3rd set tomorrow morning.

Neither Dancevic nor Dubois were able to start.

------

Reports from the courts say that the forecast tomorrow is horsepoop* tomorrow, worse than today.

*official Wimbledon term

Here's a nice story.

Pierre-Ludovic Duclos, Canadian, age 25, ranked 500 in the World.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pierre-Ludovic_Duclos

Played Futures early in his career and pretty much got nowhere. Highest career ranking, 259. Tired of the Futures Tour, he now goes around the world trying to qualify for Challenger Tour events. Much more difficult level and if you don't qualify, you get no points or money. I see his name pop up from time to time looking for Canadian news but he rarely qualifies for the event.

Ranked in the 400s playing guys ranked in the 100s, 200s is tough sledding but he must feel it's his last chance at glory.

This week in Guadalajara, Mexico is a $100000 event opposite the first week of Wimbledon, so it's a fairly open field. Duclos lost in qualifying again.

But he got a Lucky Loser spot.

And he's now won 4 matches in a row to get to the final including beating Juan Souza ranked 129! He's made 8,000 and gained 60 points. Probably his greatest achievement ever

Nothing happening this week until Friday as all the top players are preparing for Davis Cup.

World Group Quarterfinals

Serbia AT Sweden (Halmstad, Indoor Hardcourt)
Kazakhstan AT Argentina (Buenos Aires,Outdoor Clay)
Spain AT USA (Austin, Indoor Hardcourt)
France AT Germany (Outdoor, Clay)

And important to us

Canada AT Ecuador (Outdoor Clay)

Without Raonic, looks like Pospisil will play singles and doubles with Nestor.

Battle going on now. Bester dropped the 1st set tiebreak to Campozano but won the 2nd set also in a tiebreak.

Now 4-4 in the 3rd set, 3 hours of play already.

-----

After more than 4 hours, Bester falls in 4 sets.

Canada down 2-0

Awesome win for Canadian Tennis... First time we've ever come back from being down 2-0, even more impressive with Raonic out, hopefully he'll be back in time for the playoffs.

Nice to see the Canadians get it done without Raonic.

In Israel which makes it a bit trickier but still a great draw for Canada. At least it won't be on clay!

Playoffs:

Czech Rep. AT Romania
Brazil AT Russia
Canada AT Israel
Croatia AT South Africa
Italy AT Chile
India AT Japan
Austria AT Belgium
Switzerland AT Australia

Would be something if the venue in Israel was Canada Stadium.

This was probably the best tie for them to get. Israel has no top 50 singles players and no top 20 doubles players. Its a wonder that they managed to get to the Davis Cup semis in 2009.

I did not know this. There's an ATP Futures event in SASKATOON!

Vask Pospisil is the #1 seed.

Pospisil def. Diez in the Saskatoon final and gained a nice 25 points. Now he's up to 186 in the World Rankings.

This week the Canadians are in Vancouver for a big challenger event.
Pospisil is the 6th seed.

Important points up for grabs. 100 points to the winner.
