Rugby Australia is trying to start a 5 team competition, including the Western Force, starting next month. The TV deal still needs to be finalised. They are proposing some interesting rule changes.
-50-22 kick where the attacking team gets the line out if kicked out indirectly from behind half past the 22 or being the 22 past half. This works in league with no line outs but don’t see the point here when they are already contested. I guess it could help teams move down the field faster though increasing scoring.
-Drop kick between the posts if the attacker is held up replacing the 5m scrum. I don’t understand this one. I guess this makes it less advantageous to be held up so maybe they will try a kick instead of a pick and go? I’m not sure. Worth a try I guess.
-20 minute red card. This is also being implemented in NZ. Great idea, too many games are ruined by an early red. This is more in line with hockey’s 5 and a game.
-30s scrum reset. Not sure why this wasn’t in already. Speed up the scrums!

Dunedin could claim a world-first next week — the first top-class live sporting event with spectators since Covid-19 shut down global sport.
Tickets could go on sale at 4.30pm on Monday for the Super Rugby Aotearoa clash between the Highlanders and the Chiefs at Forsyth Barr Stadium on Saturday, June 13.
With Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern set to announce on Monday whether the country will move to Level 1 two days later, there is hope fans will then be able to buy tickets to the game.
We haven't had a new case in 14 straight days and there remains just one active in the whole country. Alert Level 1 will be essentially "back to normal" but keeping border restrictions in place.

Amazing, I mean not as amazing as DC coming home, but pretty damn close!

I don't get TSN2, but have found a work around for the next round of comp.
I heard that is was a penalty fest in the first game.
Still lovely to have the Game Played in Heaven back.
No kidding. Pretty impressive the Blues sold out Eden Park, capacity 43000! Needless to say kiwis are very enthusiastic to get out to events and entertainment right now.
Rugby is back with the Wallabies and All Blacks playing today. It’s been 19 years since the Wallabies last won the Bledisloe Cup. Don’t think they have a chance this time but crazier things have happened in 2020.

The Wallabies give away that lead to the certain try was pretty bad too. Funny the mistakes canceled each other out. Game 2 goes this weekend.
In other developments, South Africa has withdrawn from the Rugby Championship at the last minute meaning Tri-Nations Rugby is back. They cited lack of preparation at the reason but it seems like they just couldn’t be bothered. I wonder if this leads to SA joining 6 Nations? I feel a bit for Argentina having to travel all the way to Australia and now will be forced to endure bye weeks and reduced revenue.

Met 4 ling time buddies, we all played together at one time or another and watch the Heineken Cup, Chiefs won, but I was really hoping for Racing. Gotta take points when they are on offer.
Then in the evening the boy and I watched the ABs v Wallabies, AB's far too clinical, but the Aussies did show some good passages and showed some weakness in the AB's D.
