Yep, that's CP to a tee, it's been fun to watch because we always get less than the majority here seem to think is coming, but we still get great value.

We're again working ourselves up to receive 7th OA/10th OA and will likely get New Jerseys 2025 1st + roster player and I'll be really happy with that, while the site melts down in disappointment.

This type of return feels more realistic to me. I keep putting myself in the shoes of the other GM - would I trade 10OA for Markstrom? Only if other team is adding on top of retention and I don’t think 28OA gets it done.

Good point. I’m just as bad as anyone for hoping for returns that are way too optimistic. It could be a 2nd round pick/conditional 1st round pick + a prospect. I think it’s possible that there has been a shift from Conroy being in a position of saying “I don’t need to trade Markstrom so you have to meet my high price” to Markstrom likely wanting to be traded now rather than start the season with the team. That may bring down Conroy’s asking price.

There isn't. I can confidently say if the offers are below what Conroy is looking for in return you can expect Markstrom back at camp this fall.

Latest rumors suggest it's past that and Conroy is putting the latest New Jersey offer out to some other teams to see if they'd like to beat it before he accepts.

That’s good I guess. But if Markstrom wants out, it will be tough to start the season with him so I hope someone steps up with the right offer.

Even still… I’m going to add to my trade scenarios with New Jersey to make some more conservative options:

A) Markstrom (25% retained) for New Jersey’s 1st in 2025 (top 10 protected)
B) Markstrom (50% retained) for New Jersey’s 1st in 2025 (top 10 protected) + Holtz
C) Markstrom (50% retained) + Vancouver’s 1st in 2024 (28th overall) for New Jersey’s 1st in 2024 (10th overall)
D) Markstrom (50% retained) for New Jersey’s 1st in 2024 (10th overall)
E) Markstrom (25% retained) for New Jersey’s 2nd round pick in 2024 + Casey
F) Markstrom (50% retained) + Vancouver’s 1st in 2024 (28th overall) + Posposil for New Jersey’s 1st in 2024 (10th overall)
G) Markstrom (25% retained) + Posposil for New Jersey’s 1st in 2025 (top 10 protected)

The Flames just can't risk losing their own 2025 1st round pick to MTL from that Monahan trade. It can't happen.

These Flames are plenty capable of finishing bottom 10 with or without Markstrom.

dont like that whole Debrusk thing. Reminds me of past UFAs like Mason Raymond or Troy Brouwer. You cant just sign guys because they want to live here and built a place here, they have to match with the plan. do we need a 27 year old middle 6 LW.

We don't know what the Flames are cooking. If DeBrusk is on the Horizon. There's a good chance there's other things in the works as well.

How so? We have people on here speculating it's past the point of him returning and that Conroy will take whatever to get it done now.

Ah with this sort of stuff, it's effectively unprovable tampering.

Brouwer was rumoured a good week before free agency.

Steinberg was also out well in front of the start of free agency with him knowing that Markstrom was interested in Calgary, and that Calgary was interested in Markstrom.

Wouldn't surprise me if this Debrusk stuff were true, and I guess we'll see in just over 2 weeks.
