If he didn’t need a contract they could take McTavish and probably get a better D than Andersson

Figure out the acronyms. They aren't hard, old guy.

Flames should trade for Carey Price’s contract in September for some assets. Help the Canadiens out for a fee.

JR is literally Roenick's nickname. He was also a famous character on Dallas. For those of us that actually have lived life and have associated initials with many things, acronyms (not an acronym BTW) are really annoying to have to decipher when the word Robertson is pretty easy to type out. I'm sure your carpal tunnel syndrome can handle the extra strain.

Right now now need for the Habs do pay assets to dump that contract. It's only one more year, and once they put him on LTIR, they're fine. They're roster appears mostly set, too.

SDPN and CJ talked about it likely happening after they pay the bonus in September … so we should be the ones to take that on

I like Goldman, but a "late bloomer"? He scored 22 goals and 52 points in 76 games in his third season, and slightly higher ppg the year before.
He's also only 22.
If he's available, he'd be an amazing get, but he's not going to be cheap.
I hate the idea of offer-sheeting with the Flames' first in the McKenna year, but he'd be the rare player that really makes sense, particularly if the Flames were able to get Robertson out of Dallas for Andersson+.
That would alleviate my concerns about the first, as picking up two thirds of a top line would significantly change Calgary's scoring issues.
I just don't see how Anaheim doesn't automatically match any offer sheet. They've got the cap space and McTavish/Carlsson solidify their top two centre positions for the next 10 years.

I'm going to keep talking about the three team trade until I somehow manifest it to existence.
Flames: McTavish
Dallas: Andersson + ???
Anaheim: Robertson

Like McTavish, think he’s a great fit for the Flames situation, but our ‘26 pick still should not be on the table.

It’d make the team fun to watch next year. I’d probably do it but I don’t think the team is a bottom 5 lock

But they are rebuilding and Strome/Granlund/ and maybe Poehling won't be part of that. Nilson is a second rounder and I don't think McQueen looks good at all for a 10OA (and is an injury concern). Gauthier is no Mactavish replacement. So who is their 1C going forward? or are they aiming to tank one out?

Flames will have to be confident they're not a Lottery team with McTavish in the fold if they move the 26 1st. Which is plausible.
McTavish is in the group of players I'd personally be okay gambling the 26 flames 1st on. The nay sayers will have their objections but really, all you're looking for is productive games played by a player on your team. McTavish will be a player for the Flames for a very long time. And is more likely to be that than the unknown player they may get to draft.
I don't know. Seems pretty far afield to see McTavish moved. But I'm game to see the Flames make a splash. What does an aggressive Conroy trade look like.

Leo Carlsson is their 1C
McTavish or McQueen are probably their 2 and 3
Gauthier probably a winger but maybe he prefers C.
I doubt the Ducks are shopping McTavish, but I'd bet they'd move him for a piece like Robertson who is only 3.5 half years older, local, and more proven.
I actually wouldn't be surprised if the reason his name was out there to start with was because of Robertson...but for Dallas paying McTavish $8M when he's your 3rd line C and still unproven wouldn't make a ton of sense.

It's not uncommon for a center to take more time to really pop in the NHL. For a center going directly from the OHL to the NHL, his first 3 seasons have had respectable production.
Totally cherry picking an example here, but his first 3 seasons are that different than what Joe Thornton's were in Boston.

McKenna isn't even a center. I think it's Roobreck and Lawrence in early projections. So 2 in the top 10.
