Frankly taking Del Potro might have been preferable to bringing two servebots and the world's 96th and 162nd ranked players.
Poor Christian Garin.

Well, here's some good news - Peter Polansky teamed up with young American Stefan Kozlov to win the doubles title at the ATP Challenger tourney in Columbus, Ohio.

Maybe they thought if the #150 ranked player could win the US Open then surely #162 could win a Laver Cup match or two

All I know is Team Europe has 4 of the top 5 players in the world... Team World decided to skip the top 5 players in Australia and bring #6.

The funny thing is Lloyd Harris is there as a hitting partner for Team World and you could make a strong argument that he's one of the best in-form players for Team World.

I can't believe Coco Vandeweghe is still getting wildcards, she's been playing terrible tennis of late.
Edit: I see she won a few matches at the WTA 125 event in Columbus, but still there are many more players much more deserving of a wild card.

Well, Denis played a good first set, so that's something right?

Europe just has so much more depth than the World (and I'm just not referring to the guys in Boston). Just watched the end of the Moselle Open between Hurkacz and PCB (Hurkacz won in straight sets) and I'm thinking either of those guys would be winning at the Laver Cup over anyone Team World would trot out.

Hubert Hurkacz also won the doubles title this weekend. I did see on the IW doubles entry list that he's partnering up with Felix for that event.

So, maybe we just need to face facts and come up with a new format for the Laver Cup because this isn't going to get any better in the foreseeable future. Yes, there were some close matches (Felix and Diego could have won their matches on day 1), but ultimately this is turning into a joke. When your leading point earner is a 36 year old John Isner, you have issues.

I've seen plenty of people suggesting adding women to the Laver Cup to make it a better competition and I think it might be worth a try if you're dead set on keeping the current Team World vs. Team Europe format.

Adding Women would be great and would balance things out. Do 1 singles men's match, 1 women's singles, 1 men's doubles and 1 women's doubles match each day.

It does seem like a no-brainer.
Also stop letting McEnroe pick the team. Not that there was anything that could be done in this case but come on. Maybe have one coach's selection and other than that it's the top 5 players by ranking who are healthy / willing to play.
