After watching him in the WC, I think the concerns about his foot speed are grossly exaggerated. He can really move when he gets going. A little work on his first couple of strides will solve the 'problem'. He's easily as quick as Monahan right now.

I find more of a correlation between Reinhart and Niklas Backstrom or Joe Pavelski. Both don't play an 'in your face' style, but are able to change the face of a game.

Agreed - I don't know what an accurate comparison for Reinhart is, but RNH seems to be one used mostly by Oiler fans(or maybe not). I feel like Reinhart will play a more complete game than RNH already has, is already the same height and heavier than RNH, and has produced better numbers than him. As opposed to RNH who would struggle in a physical contest, Reinhart seems like he can adjust to any game pace.
Of course no comparison is 100% accurate - but I've also heard Bergeron, Toews, Brad Richards, and Henrik Zetterberg used as a comparable too.
Also, I just wanted to add something I heard Red Line Report's Kyle Woodlief said on the Jason Gregor show earlier this week. He feels like Reinhart may project to be a better winger in the NHL than a centre.

I don't think his WJC or playoff performance hurt his draft stock at all. At the WJC, he didn't dominate on a weak German team but also wasn't invisible. As for the WHL playoffs, he was by far the best player on Prince Albert and gave the Oil Kings fits. Looked very dangerous every game even if he wasn't able to lead a very overmatched PA team to a win in the series.
I agree that foot speed and his defensive game hold him back from being a clear cut #1 though.

Yes, and Hopkins is an excellent skater (he's just easy to knock off the puck). Sam Reinhart doesn't have elite speed. I like the Backstrom comparison in terms of play style; as for "legacy" references, I'd classify Sam R. as something like a right-handed Vincent Damphousse or a Doug Weight (minus the Oiler stink). Not spectacular at anything, has sound hockey sense he can score, he can make plays, he's a good team guy, not the fastest but not slow, either. Just a good, solid point producer from up the middle.

Suddenly Reinhart has a big upper hand over Bennett, as far as I'm concerned. Ugh. I suppose Bennett can be excused for being a leaf fan by reason of youth.

Man ... Craig just does not like Virtanen.
I have no more fear of drafting Ritchie now that Treliving is in place. Still hoping the cards fall in our favour and we walk away with Reinhart.

Exciting that the Flames have 4 picks in that range (#64 is close).

Yeah, and Monahan was a Maple Leafs fan growing up too. Means nothing.

Seemed like every time he was on the ice he was creating turnovers, displayed a solid two-way game, and created breakaway chances with his speed. Having a nice 6'2" frame doesn't hurt either.
Him and Poirier killing penalties together would be a nightmare for opposing teams.

If Virtanen somehow manages to get in the second round, I'd love to snag him 34th OA.

There's no way it happens. I know Craig's list is a projection of where he see's them as an NHL player, not a mock draft, but come on Craig. Lets not get silly, try to straddle the two a bit.

I am pretty sure Virtanen doesn't go past 15 picks... But if he did, that would be quite a steal if he was there at 34.
