Came to say the same thing, this isn’t anything new, the offence has been pretty putrid for a long while with some good games sprinkled in. Not a great look heading into the playoffs.

At the same time the much maligned bullpen has kind of gotten their act together during this stretch of awfully absent offence giving this team a chance to win if only for a couple timely hits. As for the lineup you can almost see it in their body language right now, no confidence or spark and doesn’t help when your half a billion dollar player has been so mid recently and moping around the dugout like someone shot his dog.

Whatever copium is required while watching the worst Jays collapse since 1987. Would have been nice to have a bye to the ALDS and the first AL East pennant in 10 years, but as Jays fans we can’t have nice things. It’s also so bad and coming from .500 / sub .500 teams that it’s hard to imagine being able to get out of the WC series without the ability to get more than a run in the first 7 innings.

Copium? I was simply pointing out that this team exceeded pre-season expectations. You're banking on this collapse when we're still effectively 3 games up? I'm concerned myself, but we're not even in the top 2 "collapses" in our own league this month. A bit jumpy to call a 4 game losing streak (after a 6 game winning streak) the worst collapse since 1987. It's going to be an exciting finish. Def. not the first time that loose teams with nothing to play for have gotten the better of contenders in the final weeks of seasons...Yankees got beat by Baltimore less than 48 hours ago.

2 weeks ago it was all about bullpen doom and gloom, but I"ll also point out that any reliever not named Heineman seems to have figured it out. Every started outside of Scherzer has been pretty good too. It's not the first time Vladdy or the offense have sputtered, and like someone else said....much better to hit rock bottom right now than in the playoffs.

I don't claim to know it all of say "I told you so" but when I take a step back, this team wasn't good for the past three years or so. Certainly parts moved in and out but until June they were pretty mediocre where we were all screaming for heads. Suddenly things turned around for the better, and certainly it was a good sample where something shifted for the positive, but are we also going to ignore the past few years mediocrity? At times the team is still struggling to put together offense. The past two weeks have not been good, which isn't ideal at this point in the season, but it seems to me they had sudden confidence until this point, and that was their backbone - come backs possible anytime. I can't explain the turnaround this season, but it goes to show that we as fans have also overlooked the past struggles, which seems to rear it's head ever now and then.

I mean clinch first by 30 games or by 1 game with the tiebreaker makes no difference.

Playoff questions still exist and they will have to step it up finally.

Would be great if they can hang on these final 7 games. We as fans just need to enjoy the tension of this last week and very meaningful baseball and hope everything is figured out come October. Re-inserting Bo will be a nice boost when the time comes.

You know what’s probably needed is a good old fashioned incident.

The Royals ran up 20 on them a couple days ago. Is everyone in the clubhouse fine with that? They shouldn’t be.

In the 8th inning today if the game is out of hand either way, throw at the hip of a Royal or two.

Or, Schneider take matters into his own hands and pick an animated fight with an umpire.

Something, anything to galvanize or give a shot to energize this team.

No matter the position the Jays enter the playoffs (but they need the bye), they cannot go in with a wimper as they are doing right now.

Get the team charged up and back on track. It’s the manager and the vets that have to lead that charge.

The ‘Toronto sports’ narrative is going to rear its head and be a distraction for this team if they back into clinching a WC spot today or tomorrow by others losing and then ‘celebrate’ with a champagne shower while NY closes the noose on the AL East.

That irked me so much back in the day.

Just win today! You can celebrate justly post game and have the off day to recover and then focus on the work still left to do.

If you clinch the AL pennant. Then celebrate fully.

They are far from a perfect team, but if you are in first place in your division at this stage, you are a good team.

I can't tell if you are stretching hard to find a way that you are "right" or what the point of this post is.

I think this line-up though is much different missing Bo. He's their most important offensive player.

Are you aware that they won 6 games in a row within the past 2 weeks?

When Gimenez gets a clutch hit, you know something must be turning...and now we've matched the run total from the prior two games!

2 runs in one game? Is that allowed?

No, no point really. Just a rambling, but definitely not to say I was right. Moreso just to point out this team wasn't doing well for the longest time which we may all be forgetting about too. But I did agree that they did something right within a good sample this season to turn things around. But we can't forget they've been struggling mightily to score runs at times, which was the case for a couple years leading to this year.

Can you point to a team that doesn't struggle to score runs at times? They are 6th in the MLB in runs scored for the year. ...and first in AVG by 5 points.
