I think DC shouldn't bother trying to make an interconnected universe. For the next decade or more they should just make live action Elseworlds movies. Red Son, Liberty Files, Kingdom Come, Gotham By Gaslight, Speeding Bullets, New Frontier, etc.
Though they've already been doing a bunch of these in their animated movies.
How amazing would Kingdom Come be as a movie?

I could care less if DC or the MCU have a specific plan. I'd just like to see good movies.
Shazam 2 was almost bound to fail. DC comes out and says they're rebooting...yet they've got two movies from the old DCEU that don't matter...but go see them anyways.
Overall, there's definitely fatigue in the genre and the weight of the built up lore is dragging the movies down. I've said it before, they just need to make good movies.
The next set of movies from the MCU and spiderverse look really uninspired. The Marvels and Captain America look awful. Kraven and Madame Web also look pretty awful. Similarly, Aquaman, Flash, and the Blue Beetle don't look especially interesting.
I have no problems with shared universes. There's no reason to make them so interconnected though. For example, Wanda's story doesn't need to cross so many tv shows and movies.
The thing is....I think they thought it was neat, so they tried to keep doing. DC thought the money they made was great so they tried (poorly) to copy it.
I do believe that people need to realize that MCU Phase 1 buildup to Infinity War/Endgame is the exception rather than the rule.
Catching that lightning in a bottle is highly unlikely to happen again anytime soon.

LOL. Batman is the only superhero movies they should make. It's 10000 times better than any of the crap the DCU and MCU outputs.

Both of these takes are poor and neither of you are awarded points.

Especially with the main villain being arrested for assault and strangulation of his girlfriend...

Even then, the buildup for infinity war didn't even really require you to watch all of the Marvel content, not the same way they are weaving Loki, the Scarlet Witch, Antman, etc.. movies into the buildup.
With the IW stuff, they were tied together by the Teseracts and a few cameo appearances by Thanos. You could probably get away with watching Guardians of the Galaxy (which you should anyways because it's good), a couple of small Youtube clips, and then going straight into IW.
Just feels like the MCU is trying to force too many things. Whether it's heroes that no one really cares about, the multiverse, or having Brie Larsson as a centrepiece, it's a lot.
Man every time I go on some movie news site it's "James Gunn says this thing" "James Gunn says that thing" "James Gunn responds to this rumour" -- I think Gunn needs to STFU and just make some movies, I'm sick of hearing from / about him already.

If I were James Gunn I would simply do other things with my time than be on twitter.

Yeah, you're right, I forgot about that. Peacemaker was really good.
Again though, as a Director rather than a studio-head.
Sure, with James Gunn it's yet to be seen from an executive role...
...or is it? Damn if this guy isn't in touch with converting source concepts and ideas into gold. Or even supporting original ideas that deliver.
Dawn of the Dead
Slither
Guardians of the Galaxy
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
Brightburn
The Suicide Squad
Peacemaker
And as an executive producer: Avengers Infinity War and Endgame.
GoTG Volume 3 and the future Superman film are yet to be determined.
####ting on this guy because he's said stuff on social media and in interviews is first class stupid. I can't wait to see what he does as creative head on the DCU.
