IF they were trying to get more eyes on the game, especially in the US they wouldn't be pushing the Oilers.

I hate the Oilers and I think the reffing/calls have been very questionable for years now but this stuff gets a little silly. Yes McDavid dives like crazy and gets calls that aren't real but I don't think it's a conspiracy. It's a double standard.

Getting that ####hole a Stanley Cup isn't going to do anything to improve US viewership.

Getting da'Conna to LA, NYR, Chicago, Boston or the like and winning a Stanley Cup there would do wonders for viewership.

Come on NHL, force a trade somehow!

This. The NHLs best player toiling in Edmonton for a decade has been bad for the game.

The NHL’s best player plays in Colorado.

Edm/Bos Final…..
Conna scores 15 pts in the series, and all the American networks start felating McDavid like the Canadian markets due……. Then the marketing campaign starts

Oilers are the last place the league would want a cup...they've been the worst team in the league over the last 30 years and still make a #### ton of money with their moron fanbase. They set records with how awful they were and still gave their downtown away to a scumbag because "I know something about winning" and "This year is our year". You could have let a magic 8 ball run that team and it would've turned out better and the sweatpant brigade can't shovel money at them fast enough. Can't think of a better example of disincentivizing success than the Oilers fanbase.

I have my doubts that the Oilers are getting anywhere near the cup. They've had a nice hot streak in regular season hockey.

But them having to go through 7 game series where coaches put together strategies specific to the Oilers makes me smile.

I mean last year against the Kings they didn't look great. Against the Flames they got a lucky break because of the Flames goaltending and against the Avs they got swamped in their own end.

They've got a bunch of players that are either streaking, or playing over their head.

We've seen teams that are hot in the last quarter and then go into the playoffs and get every square inch of their asses kicked.

The best part is that the Oilers are at the end of their window. They have 15 players under contract for next year with about 9 million in cap space.

Their two biggest free agents are Evan Bouchard and Kostin who has stabilized their bottom 6.

Look the Oilers are on a big sugar rush right now. What happens after a sugar rush? The dreaded sugar crash.

Time to drop @Sportsnet from my Twitter / Social Media feeds for a while.

The amount of Leaf / Oiler fellating for the next month or so will be nauseating.

The better Conna will be there next season.

It's McDavid.

The guy just scored 60 goals and 150 points.

He's the best player in the league.

In a year where there are like 50 guys scoring 100 points. 150 is actually unimpressive with scoring up so much league-wide.

Lol it's time to cut with the BS Oilers hate and just admit that team up north is actually good.

McDavid has 40 more points than anybody not on his team, and he scored 60 goals. Its a remarkable season even with scoring up league wide.

Edmonton will always be no good...but the hockey team isn't no good anymore and McDavid is the best player of this generation.

OK, now go edit your post. This is the E=NG thread.

We're not going to "cut the BS Oiler hate" here.

There's a ton of other threads where you can be rational.

Yeah, but Gretzky played with Gretzky. So really, it's not that impressive.
