Pathways in south were great this morning, couple cm's of hard pack snow that was perfect amount of grip with zero slippery spots. Quarry park was a little rutted but still a 6/10 for short section before Carburn. Bare pathway north of Glemore trail.

We used Giant Mountain bikes in Vietnam and Trek hybrids in Cambodia and Thailand. I’m 6’2 and they had the right fit for me and several other tall guys. Quality and sizing are not a problem with intrepid.

We started in Hanoi Vietnam and ended in Bangkok, Thailand.

I loved it. It’s my favourite way to see a country (if time permits).

Has anyone had any luck, or know of any decent consignment bike stores? Id like to sell my Giant Reign 2, but I am out of town a lot and dont want to deal with Fbook Marketplace or Kijiji people with the limited time I am around.

Not exactly what you are looking for, but I sold a bike at the Alberta Bike Swap last year. https://albertabikeswap.ca/

Drop it off and set your price, if it sells they take a cut and if it doesn't you pick it up. There's a big range of bikes, including some higher end stuff.

What year and size? What are you asking for it? Maybe someone here will have a look.

2018 Giant Reign 2 - L (Will need to confirm components, but pretty much stock, 27.5" tires)

I haven't ridden it much the last couple years, I have joined the E-Bike army and have actually been enjoying Mountain Biking again. Would probably list it online/AB Swap for $1500, and would be happy for less via CP.

Just BWR BC in the fall, but none of the others.

What did you think of it? They moved it to June 7 this year.

This is surprising news that Rocky Mountain Bikes is in creditor protection.

It was fun, really enjoyed it, having said that it’s not high on my calendar for this year. I’m still considering it, but might just wait until closer to decide.

I like the BWRs overall, the mix of every kind of riding is awesome. This has quite a bit of legit single track where I was definitely wishing I had a MTB under me, but that is really part of the fun. Of course quite a bit of road and gravel as well.
The turnout was not great, so not as much “vibe” as when there is a bigger start list. I hope they get a bigger turnout with the new dates, although i actually like the late September time for me to get away first a couple of days, it’ll be a little tougher for me to fit it in June.

Overall I liked it, would do it again, no specific criticisms, just didn’t make me feel like it was a can’t miss. Totally arbitrary though and can’t pinpoint why. If I’d podiumed I’d probably feel differently, haha. But it’s a beautiful area and a fun challenging ride.

BWR Arizona on the other hand was fantastic, and am doing that again in early March. That was a can’t miss for me after doing it last year.

If you have any specific questions let me know.

Came across this via Bluesky yesterday, a short NFB film about a bike courier in Edmonton in the winter:

After a month of riding on the cold and not seeing any TLC, my gravel/commuter chain was in nasty shape. Gave the bike a good clean (finally) and got everything lubed up nicely again. Roads should be substantially dry for commuting by midweek. Let’s hope the main paths don’t have mega lakes/rinks to deal with.

Yes every year I tell myself “roads should be dry by then” and every year I have to relearn that as long as there is snow anywhere you will have to ride through water and over ice somewhere.

^that NFB doc was good. Thanks for sharing.

Those giant puddles along my route have subsided as the week has gone by at least.

Glad you liked that NFB short!

Nosecreek this evening was 99.569% clear, with the remainder being one puddle that's a few inches deep under one of the bridges. Some meltwater across some areas of the path which might be slick in the morning.

I finally got back on my bike this week after being off for 2.5 months. That's the longest I have ever gone between rides in the last 8 years.

The Canal path was also very clear. However just south of 61st ave (just before the drywall recycling plant) they are doing some stormwater infrastructure work and have a 50 metre section closed. The detour takes you onto very soft grass. Not terrible on my winter bike which is a mountain bike, but I would walk my road bike for that section.
