There were murmurs of Marner going on the block because he was riding the 4th line a while. That was a media speculation. The Brodie spec came from conversation about what the Flames would need to send over to get Marner. that was fan speculation.

I don’t really need to because I know the rumor never existed but wanted to give you the chance to back up your statement.

Yeah that would been nice but Toronto obviously wouldnt do that trade. I believe Hamilton for Marner is a slight possibility but even then I don’t know if either side does it?

Gardiner and Brodie are a perfect comparison. Sometimes they amaze you by the plays they make (good and bad).
I posted this before but replace Gardiner with Brodie here and I think you have a lot of Flames fans on CP.

What do you think of Jake Gardiner?
Turnover machine. He’s been getting killed this year, he’s not even putting up the shot numbers he used to.
Should we look at trading him?
Definitely.
Why would anyone want him?
Well, he’s a clear top four, he’s a good skater, he produces points, he normally does have good shot nu—
Why don’t we keep him?
...he makes me angry sometimes.
This guy is crap, so we have to trade him, but people will trade a lot for him, because...I guess they’re much dumber than us?
|
Sometimes I read the Flames game threads and it sounds like Brodie is pretty bad this year but people expect the Leafs to give up Marner for him?

Because I just crave likes. Maybe you’re just mad because everyone disagrees that trading an established top 4 defenseman for a magic bean pick doesn’t make sense for a team that isn’t rebuilding?

There is zero chance Toronto trades Marner for a 27 year old second pairing D with only 2 years left on his contract after this year.
Would they trade him for 24 tearmold top pairing Dman Hamilton with 3 years left on his contract?

Isn't Gardiner a turnover machine too?

Gardiner has never had the luxury of playing with a player of Giordano's quality.
For the last two seasons he has been paired with Zaitsev. Before that it was Korbinian Holzer and Roman Polak.
Just look at Rielly since being paired with Hainsey. The guy looks amazing.

Not gonna comment on that exact potential deal but D man are always more valuable than stat whore fans think.

And then I did. But rather than conceding and admitting that you were mistaken, you’d rather shift goalposts and continue to argue something completely different (/irrelevant). Weird.

You mentioned earlier in the thread that you think Brodie sucks and “if the Marner/Nylander offers we’re still on the table you would drive him to the airport”
Then when questioned you responded “the rumors were floating around and the responses around here were laughable”
You have no tried to back out of that by providing tweets where there was speculation Marner would be moved for a Dman. No one questioned that though. People are questioning the Marner/Nylander offers that you claim were on the table for Brodie.
It is pretty clear that there has never been a legit rumor linking Marner/Nylander to the Flames with Brodie as the piece going the other way. For some reason you mention that in a drive by ripping Brodie for some odd reason
