I watch Keller and I see a player teams will fear. I watch Nylander and I see a surgeon. I watch Logan Brown and I don't see an offensive catalyst at the NHL level.

I think you should reel those expectations in a bit. We're not going to get an offensive catalyst with the 6th pick. We're hoping to get a get a good support player to the guys we have. If we can get a player that will compliment Bennett and give us a solid 2nd line that will be a huge achievement in this draft. That should be our goal here. Going in thinking you're drafting a superstar is a sure way to end up going full Edmonton Oiler.
I would not be disappointed if we drafted a small player with the 6th pick, so long as we get some of the guys I mentioned in the previous post with 2nd rounders. I would be fine with Keller or Nylander as long as they were backed up with a big body like Gathier or Jones for example. It's all about addressing needs and if we can grab some good support players in this draft I think we will have achieved our goals.

Craig's list is great though because I think it actually shows what is probably a reflection of the type of variation that exists team to team. We all get caught up in the consensus lists and mocks largely based on averages - but team to team I bet they look more like Button's list.

Someone tell the Lightning they're too small to go to back to back conference finals.

I get the feeling of the feeling of the Oulers pick at 4 they take Dubois. He apparently had a great interview with them at the combine (his words) and they probably want a really big body playing in their top 6. Frees them up to make major changes to address the back end.
If that happens I am still not sure where the Canucks go. I could see Brown being their guy if it between him and Tkachuk. I am not sure if Benning thinks his future centre core of Horvat, Sutter, Granlund is better than their wingers Virtanen, Boeser, Baertschi. I guess it could really be a toss up between Brown and Tkachuk for Van

Tell that to the Pens who have guys like Connor Sheary 5'8, 157 and Bryan Rust 5'11, 190 stepping in and making a huge impact.

Every year, like every year, Bob McKenzies final list is bang on in the top ten. Maybe a slight variant in one or two picks every odd year or so. If any list is the truest indicator it's Bobs.
I don't mind Craigslist though because outside of his one or two outlandish hard on type picks (Keller and Brown this year), I love his top 100. As far as ranking goes, he's pretty good 30th and down.
I like the variance he brings to the media lists, but historically he has some real oddball infatuations every year.

I disagree. Especially with respect to Keller. He is as dynamic a prospect as you will find in any draft. I've said this in another thread; draft Keller, add him to the collection of stud centers under 21 along with Bennett and Jankowski.
The best center of the lot stays in the middle on the 2nd line. The player who plays best with that center kicks out to the wing. The 3rd man becomes the #3C and Backlund is traded for help. In my head, Bennett stays the #2C, Keller is his wingman, and all 6 ft 4 200+ lbs of Jankowski anchors the third line.
The Oilers are the Oilers because some of their most important players have massive entitlement issues and their roster construction is fundamentally flawed. I just want a team with two Gaudreaus.

Wayne Gretzky's trade allowed the Oilers to make payroll for what, three years? Imagine trading someone for the 3rd overall pick + 210 million dollars.

Indicator of the best players or the most likely draft picks?
Button had Kyle Connor as the sixth best player in the draft last year.
McKenzie predicted Kyle Connor would be taken around 13th.
Bob's list indicated where Connor "would go".
Button's list indicated where Connor "should go".
What are you more interested in?

I think what he is suggesting, is we sign Wayne Gretzky to a 1-day contract and trade him for Jesse Puljujarvi.

Hey, for all we know, Kekalainen's socks are really loose and would fly off for a couple of 2nds

When you have three monster defenders in your top 4 you get a little leeway in that.
and even those guys have an inch and fifteen pounds on Gaudreau and Keller

Another knock I have against Keller besides his size is that he's an American going to college next season. He sees the log jam we have at centre and he decides to do his 4 years in college and go UFA on us.

Well , I'm more interested in seeing who will go where. Not where they should go. So I like Bob's list over Buttons.

Keller is a surefire one-and-done. He'll be forgoing 3 years - or potentially 3+ million dollars, to go UFA on us.

He's a natural center, strong on the faceoff dot and knows his responsibilities. But at the NHL level I see him as a jack of all trades top 6 forward who plays mostly wing. Can play center in a pinch but with Bennett and Monahan there healthy he would play wing.
