I'd love to see Iran booted but I don't see how that works in a sporting event, it would be farcical. Punish Iran , who deserves it, in other ways.

Are we certain the team will be wearing authentics themselves, given the debacles with the CSA/B and their equipment budget?

I guess we'll have to see which set the jersey parent shows up with.

Maybe they'll wear white Tshirts and just have the names and numbers printed on with sharpie.
Mangipane can draw the maple leaf on the front for them.

Figured (and hoped) this was the case.

So Canada though... this is the most attention Canadian soccer has ever received, they are finally getting their day in the sun, and what do they do? They have a controversy over the governance of the sport, and they are completely unequipped to take advantage of the merchandising opportunity.

Sure I guess, but the only reason this controversy has come to the public light is because of that success. The CSA has operated like this for decades, hiding everything from the public and from the players on NT’s, and if they bowed out of the WC instead of qualifying, this wouldn’t have come out until build up to 2026.
As for merchandise, further incompetence. It was almost a year ago since the two games in Edmonton were played, even if they started to get their act together then and there, 12 months later they’d have all sorts of merchandise. Again, it’s now under control of CSB, and the CSB controls the purse strings and generally the CSA has probably not been one of Nike’s bettter clients (ie the CSA order half of the tracksuits and polo shirts the members of our national teams need, and have to share them), so to the bottom of the priority chain Canada goes for Nike in getting kits produced…certainly not getting any favours from Nike, especially since Canada isn’t getting a new kit for the WC like every other Nike sponsored country did.

Not that he would have played, but this is a massive bummer. Waterman's chances of making the team just went up.

Waterman and Cornelius might very well both be on the plane now.
Sucks for Kennedy, good Calgary boy!

Should we start a general WC thread soon?
Man the more I read about the corruption and human suffering, makes me want to boycott. But for the first time in my life Canada has made it. What a world we live in.

Is Tomori still eligible for Canada? I think he can file a switch but not 100%.
Wiki on eligibility says they are cap tied only if they play 3 competitive games before they turn 21 OR they appear in a world cup or continental final game (qualifiers don't count). Any competitive/non-friendly games would cap tie a player who was only eligible for the one country at the time it happened but he has always been eligible for Canada and England.
So by that logic he is eligible to file a switch I think? His three caps were in qualifiers and nations league, and he was eligible for Canada at that time. The one piece I am not sure of is if nations league counts.
https://www.national-football-teams....yo_Tomori.html
*Edit - I misunderstood that article. Under 3 matches under 21 but what isn't said is that any single cap over 21 cap ties. So not eligible. Too bad for him and the CMNT

As someone who spent a decent few of my younger years growing up in Bahrain, looking forward to this match.

Wow. Two former CPL players on that roster. That bodes really well for the CPL as a play to develop skills in-house.
