What time of day did you do this brave and heroic act? I can’t tell you how much I want to just take that shortcut from 17th to Hwy 8, just like the old 101 days.

Isolating the two with access only through 69th and the dozen stop lights through there for the last 2? years is insane.

They're a hair from having the entire thing connected.

End the madness.

So what are the chances that they bump up the speed limit on Stoney now that the Bow river bridge and 16th Ave interchange are all done? I get dropping it to 80 past that since the road ends at Bow Trail, but there doesn't seem to be any reason to keep the speed that low between Nose Hill Dr and Old Banff Coach Rd now

It's was real, and it was glorious! Later in the evening and only did it as there were no cars around. Going to be a game changer when it does open. I'm saying early January but mostly to manifest that.

Snow and cold will slow that landscaping and drainage work considerably but I’m with you.

Drove south from Balzac late Monday and of course turned off at Bow. But boy did I want to sneak onto that road. Those road workers drive on it all day, why not me.

Coming from the west on 8, from where 101 used to be, it added 15-20 minutes to get to Pinebrook, or to Aspen Landing or 69th LRT, which is what I do to go to work. About 7 sets of lights at least.

I don’t think anyone can trust your numbers because of the last discussion on getting downtown.

Update on their website nothing too exciting:

https://westringroad.ca/2023/11/24/p...ember-24-2023/

Read on Reddit that they may try and open up the Highway 8 portion before Christmas but first I have heard of that and likely is just wishful thinking.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Calgary/com...ad_no_updates/

If I see them out plowing the snow on the unopened sections I will start to get excited.

Driving west bound on the ring road near discovery and they removed the closed signs for Bow trail and 17th Ave interchange. May not mean anything but clinging to whatever I can.

She’s plowed as of this morning.
Construction signs are gone around 69th. It no longer drops to 80kmh.

I happened to be down south on the day the south connector opened and I drove through as there was a picker truck removing the orange "closed" signs... as in, that was the last thing they did, even after the road was actually open.

Fingers crossed.

Wonder if it’s open from highway 8? Is it plowed down that way?

I drive 17th to lower Springbank road and it was plowed north and south of 17th. The barriers for the exit to southbound were still in place when I went by at noon. I have to drive back out there later this afternoon.

I just went westbound. On Highway eight, it is not open. I would expect it could be open before Christmas though. It’s plowed all the way to the highway but there’s a few construction crews doing touchups on the overpasses.

As of two hours ago, there were still heavy concrete barriers across the highway near the Bow Trail exit, and no sign of activity.

I expect the province will want to press conference the opening so there would be some sort of announcement.

Friend of a friend is a surveyor on the swrr, saw a text from him the showed internal correspondence congratulating everyone and that it’s opening Tuesday

Expect an announcement tomorrow I guess but not sure if other insiders like Acey have same information

As someone with kids in school, and with relatives who've been feeling the effects of a crashing healthcare system, I really feel there's a better balance between infrastructure and operations spending that the province can and should achieve.

But that final leg of the ring road will mean exactly one minor traffic light for me on my commute home, and I'm really excited for that.

We live in Mahogany and my son plays baseball for Webber at the end of Lower Springbank Road. 4 practices a week.

Will now be 2 stoplight. 35 mins instead of close to an hour.
