Michael Stone on IR because of a blood clot. That's sad. I hope he recovers quickly and returns to good health.

Jets have claimed Dano back from the Avs. If they were the only team to put in a claim, they can assign him directly to the AHL without waivers again because they were his original team.

Elliotte Friedman @FriedgeHNIC
WIN claims Dano

HNIC:

Nylander:
6 year deal still possible
Johnston believes Nylander will accept $6.9 million or a shade under $7 million
Leafs aren't there yet but believed they are close
Friedman thinks the the Leafs and Nylander are $500k apart

Melnyk filed a lawsuit against his partner and his partner is expected to file a counter suit as soon as Monday.
The League brought up a conflict of interest a year ago. Apparently the partner had another project nearby that could have undermined the condo sales they needed to finance the arena.
Now the question is Melnyk can find another partner before the deadline

Montreal looking for experienced d-man if they are still in the playoff race
Blues and Kings potential partners

Some are wondering if Darling could be moved from Carolina

Believed some teams have expressed interest via 3rd parties for McLellan and Quenneville
Starting to hear McLellan's name with LA. If Kings think he is the right guy they won't hesitate to remove Desjardin and name McLellan coach tomorrow
Oilers believed to have checked in on Quenneville

Hope Melnyk is forced to sell by the NHL if they lose the arena deal so Ottawa fans can get a good owner

Quennville probably hung up the phone before Chiarelli finished his sentence.

Yup. I'd bet some money on that. "Hey Joel it's Chia...." click.

I wonder how much money they had to dump at Hitchs feet to convince him to un-retire since it's likely that no one else wanted the job.

He probably has any calls with a 587 or 780 area code blocked so he can avoid that inconvenience.

Karl Alzner missing from Habs practice. Some speculation that the Habs will put him on waivers.

The Kings under Desjardins have cut Kovalchuk's ice time heavily, which is eyebrow raising as he was leading the team in points. Leading to speculation that he might return to Russia.

Kovalchuk for Neal. The Kings get even slower and we get a 2nd line RW.

As much as +/- is a bad stat. Kovalchuk was (a) leading in points but (b) way in front in -. I'm betting he was seen as lazy and one dimensional by the coach and not helpful at all.

I want no part of that player, even for a struggling guy like Neal, who at least seems like he cares.

I doubt Kovalchuk waives his NMC for a lot of teams. He had a specific set of teams he was considering during the summer.

If he is unhappy and can't go to one of his preferred teams, he is likely to just go back to Russia.

Sam Bennett has stepped into that role quite nicely, thank you very much.

Tkachuk - Backlund - Bennett continues to look awesome.

Kovalchuk would actually give our team a 1 timer on the PP

Do not want Kovalchuk at all. He does not give a crap about his own zone.

Lindholm has scored a couple like that, and Neal should be able to. We don't need Kovalchuk, and his age, and his issues.

I would do Kovalchuk for Neal in a heartbeat. Kovalchuk's contract only goes for another 2 years. That's pretty much all I care about.

BUt I doubt Kovalchuk would want to come to Calgary, even if the team is competitive.

I think Neal will come around. But if he doesnt but the deadline next season I'd consider it. I'm glad to have hamonic this year (last year I was hoping to move him lol). It can take time to adjust and it's only been 25gamesish.
