I got a Sim2 near the end of the season and I love it.
Recommendations for courses on Oahu, Hawaii?
I'm a high handicap player, so doesn't need to be championship caliber.
Just scenic and decently maintained.
getting started thinking about golf this year, have never golfed Edmonton area courses. what are some of the better public courses that are a must play as we are likely looking to play 6 or 7 rounds up there this summer.

Trestle creek is a great track. Little ways west though.

I have played a few rounds up in Edmonton over the past 5 or so years.
Coal Creek - Loved it, it was still earlish in the year and it had been wet, but enjoyed the layout and the area. Rates were pretty good as well. I think I played on a weekday and the course was nearly empty.
Lewis Estates - It was still recoving from bad winterkill on the greens. Too many houses for my liking.
Jaeger Ridge - Pretty terrible experience with the dude checking us in at the pro shop, kind of put me in a bad mood and had my worst round of 2020. It was in good condition, but wasn't a fan of the layout. Seemed pricey to. It was hot and muggy and took well over 5 hours to play.
Broadmoor - OK enough, lots of houses but lots of mature trees around them just in case. Flat, cheap.
Legends - I really liked this place, very good value, course was well kept, fairly easy course. 27 holes and a decent clubhouse.
Country side golf club - Played this last July in the heat wave, booked it kind of last minute early to avoid the heat wave and there wasn't much too choose from but was pleasantly surprised. It was in good shape and for a pretty good rate. Fun little layout.
Redtail landing - I think I got lucky and played it on a calm day, so it wasn't too bad, as I hear it can get windy. Close to the airport and a casino. Good shape but a bit pricey for what it was.

I'll second Coal Creek, its a bit of a drive but its a beautiful course.
Legends has fantastic value, it's cheaper and I think it's a pretty good course, it's my go to.
Broadmoor is a nice course, but the goose #### gets really annoying.
Countryside is another decent course, not sure why I don't like it as much as the others but nothing sticks out as negative.
The Quarry is supposed to be one of the nicer courses in the area and I'm looking to catch that this year.

Redtail is awful nowadays, they had some kind of drainage issue or damage a few years ago and it's almost been non-playable since then. Unless its changed in the last year or two.
I always liked Goose Hummock up near Gibbons. Challenging course with lots of water.
Played in a tourney last year at The Quarry, was a rainy cold day but the course was great.

I played Redtail in July 2020, it was in really good shape but from what my friends said was it was in rough shape before and they addressed the issues. It was the priciest round we played, and the highway is right there to, lots of noise.

A long way from Edmonton but some big news is Cabot buying up World Woods in Florida. Going with the odd name of Cabot Citrus Farms but this is a pretty cool venture.
World Woods is in the middle of nowhere north of Tampa. Two courses on a huge site that had grander plans. When I played both a few years ago they were great value but you could definitely tell they were in need of some love. Courses built with a large ambition but just didn't get the support. But with 2100 acres, 2 cool courses and the executive 9, there's so much room to create a hell of a property. Won't be a bargain anymore unfortunately.
I'm definitely doing a Streamsong/Citrus Farms double in the middle of a Flames road trip in a few years.
I still enjoy The Ranch which is fairly easy to get on to
The Quarry is on point
Northern Bearn is a decent enough track
I have a soft spot for Cougar Creek as I remember when that place was built and waiting years to play it
The Quarry is definitely great as is The Ranch. The Ranch is a relatively short course but the value is exceptional. Another great course is Sturgeon Valley Golf and Country Club.
These are the only two I've played in around the city.
I've also played the one out by Wabamun. Ironhead I think? It's a great layout but poorly maintained which is a shame.
Ironhead used to be my dad's go to when we spent our summers at Wabamun. At one point you couldn't beat the value there and it was always quiet in the summer. It started to go down hill years ago and I'm not surprised how it ended up. Thanks for the reminder on this and now I need to call my dad.
Thoughts on Country Hills compared to The Winston? Looking to get an annual this year and they are similarly priced (~$5,500 incl GST ouch). Never played Country Hills but I know they have better facilities, 36 holes versus 18, an actual clubhouse, etc. Based on all of this it seems like it would be better value than Winston but curious to hear other opinions. Thanks in advance.
We were planning to golf Sand Valley and Lawsonia in Wisconsin in July but Sand Valley booked up really quickly for 2022 and we didn’t want to deal with any potential border issues. Going to head to Cape Breton Island instead for a week and golf out there!

Cabot?! I really want to make that trek one day.

i have only played the 18 at country hills that they let the regular folks use for the tourney's and the winston. i thought both were decent.
a guy i worked with a few years ago was at the winston, and as i recall they were undergoing some type of issues around their clubhouse and reno's etc. so you may want to try to find out about the issue and how it was sorted out to see if that has any impact on your decision
otherwise, if the price is the same, i'd pick the one that is a closest to my house - but i'd lean more to CH given it is a 36 hole layout so as long as you have access to both then you feel like you are getting more options in terms of golf
