Isn’t his opt out after the 2026 season ?

There will be a lockout then anyways so opting out would be silly 😜

As frustrating as the last 3 games have been at least we're not the Tigers. They're in absolute free fall and could be on the outside looking in by the time all is said and done.

His opt out isn't until 2027 as mentioned, and if he opts out he's leaving 2x $24MM on the table. Now granting that the GMs have a more rational view of his performance than Blaster, I still think it's unlikely he gets more than that as a FA. There are 13 starters in MLB with an AAV greater than $24 MM. I don't think Berrios ranks that highly

Tigers lose against, they might get caught by Cleveland!

Umm...Berrios is from Puerto Rico.

I also think Berrios will easily have a spot in the rotation next year.

Even if we assume Yesavage becomes the next Roger Clemens, they only have Gauzman, Berrios, and Lauer to go with him next year. Maybe you're hoping one of Manoah, Francis or Tiedeman works out next year, but realistically you need 6 starters over the course of a year and even witg Yesavage they only have 4 or maybe 5 if you think one of those other guys pans out.

I think they'll try and sign at least one starter in the offseason. Bieber actually might be a good fit. I think Bassit will go elsewhere because I doubt the Jays will want to give him term and I think someone else will.

Yankees get 2 soft singles and Stanton hits an opposite field 3 run HR that didn't look like it was gonna get out off the bat and lead 3-0 top 1

Bassitt going on the IL could be the door opening for Yesavage to come in for the playoff roster as an injury replacement. The problem is, at this point, Bassitt is probably more likely to be on the playoff roster than Berrios (and maybe even Scherzer).

If his struggles continue into next season, he’s much more likely to opt in than opt out. He’ll be 32 when he’d be entering free agency, he’s just not likely to get $24m per year elsewhere.

If he wants out, he’d be better served to tell the team that he’s likely to opt out and hope that they trade him to a team where he is not interested in opting out.

This team looks like they are counting down the minutes to the off day. We need another assist or 2 from the Os, methinks.
