I'm Canadian, so I can't vote in the election...and hypotheticals are uninteresting. More importantly, they aren't necessary to make observations about the situation. (Incidentally, it's not uncommon for commentars/writers/journalists etc to not vote because they think it undermines their objectivity even subconsciously).
However, I understand the point you are trying to make. I think it is more useful for us to compare how we think the distributions of the Trump supporter populations would filter out in your categories. (Although I don't think it is useful to combine sexism and racism.)
This is how I think the population of Trump supporters would be allocated, if you asked them directly, and they answered anonymously and honestly:
1. You don't believe he is a racist and/or sexist (90%)
2. You believe he is one or both of those things, but you are willing to overlook it because you don't think its important (3%)
3. You believe he is one or both of those things, but you are willing to overlook it because you think other issues are more improtant (5%)
This is how I think the average anti-Trump person things the distribution is:
1. You don't believe he is a racist and/or sexist (10%)
2. You believe he is one or both of those things, but you are willing to overlook it because you don't think its important (30%)
3. You believe he is one or both of those things, but you are willing to overlook it because you think other issues are more improtant (30%)
4. You are also a racist and/or sexist (30%)
I believe this difference is the crux of the issue.
No one ever believes they are racist though, Hitler would have happily told you he had nothing against Jews, he even had a Jewish friend back in the day in Munich, he was just protecting Germany, the KKK would never say they hated blacks, just that they needed to protect white women.
You can be as racist as all get out and not even know it frankly

I think he walked away to go golfing when his team had him correct his tweet to the Four Seasons land scaping company. He finally realized the idiots he had surrounded himself with weren’t getting him out of this one.
This is something that has always interested me, if you're really smart does everyone around you just seem like an idiot. And if you are an idiot does everyone around you always seem really smart?
Asking, because I'm not confident Trump knows they are idiots.

The issue is only partially how people perceive things, and the root cause of how they get to that point is essential to address if anything is to be fixed
Too many people are given too much bad information which is specifically targeted at them, and sadly, the phrase “you are what you eat” appears to hold true

He’ll eventually delete the “landscaping” correction tweet and when people look back they’ll think it was actually the posh hotel.

I don't agree with your point (you are denying that white supremacists exist, which is not something that most dems would agree with), but let's for the sake of argument agree with that point.
That eliminates #4 from the the options above, with a redistribution into the other three categories.
Admittedly, he said "bug off" and not "f--k off". But whoever added the captions heard what they wanted to.
That changes things quite a bit but I think most people were applauding that they thought he said the latter and I still think that type of behaviour is going to problematic going forward.

Additionally, it isn't the responsibility of a reporter to engage some dipsh-t in the middle of their broadcast to debate them.
You would think if someone is calling out the media outlet you work for as being illegitimate it would be sensible to defend your credibility, especially when it’s easy to do so. You’re right though, the reporter doesn’t have to do that. I would have just preferred to see that instead.

Might as well have Joe come out of his parents basement to argue with a PhD in Climate science.
He’s giving the troll what he wants by dismissing him.

Exposing the gaps in their logic on live tv may not change their mind, but it’ll probably cause at least some likeminded people who watch it to reflect on their views. The MAGA mentality isn’t going to go away on its own, Americans will need to be proactive.

As I said the fact that he said “bug off” instead of what was captioned changes things significantly, that being the case I still think these people should be engaged in discussions at every opportunity even though that will no doubt be a painful process and won’t change things overnight.
This period right now is gonna be the best portion of the future Trump miniseries on HBO. The meltdowns, the turning on each other, the wild delusions and increasing drug use. Can't wait.

How many times do you all need to be reminded about BoLevi?

There aren’t blue states and red states. They’re all purple.
The rural voters vote Trump. The cities vote Biden.
This, 1000x times this.
Even so, I have neighbors who I would consider good people and decent friends. They're Trump supporters. Wear the MAGA hats and everything. On just about every other topic we get along.
What's my point? No, they're not monsters all, but they are obtuse to the reasons why Trump is/was dangerous and horrifying to the rest of the country. His policies helped them and for that reason they liked him. They're just self-involved to a fault. A lot of Americans are like that.
It's still a problem, but it's more a problem of willful ignorance than being truly evil, at least that's my experience.
There is definitely a minority group that are openly stupid/racist, and they should be admonished for being so.

I know the narrative depends one which side you're on, but it always made more sense that the democrats are the empire and the republicans are the rebels. The Democrats are the establishment the republicans are on the outskirts, with the guns. It's the urban/rural divide.
