I could honestly see something around Monahan for PLD being something that’s at least being discussed by the two teams.
Monahan is more proven offensively and gives Columbus a top line C, PLD is younger with more team control left and fits the identity that Treliving seems to want.
Columbus wants to compete now too, so don’t see them looking at a package that’s mostly futures.

I think I would try to keep Monahan and run him and Dubois as 1A/1B. Play some firehouse hockey and make Markstrom earn his paycheck

If Columbus moves Dubois my gut is they want a proven top line forward back, preferably a Center.
To me that means you’re looking at one of Monahan, Lindholm, or Tkachuk as what Columbus would need, and no chance Flames are moving Tkachuk or Lindholm. Gaudreau probably doesn’t have enough term left.

I guess we'll see. Obviously, if PLD sits for the season, Columbus will not be competitive anyway. But also, the number of teams interested in Dubois will be high, so the cost to acquire him will be significant.
If you look at teams that win the cup, they often have 2 top centres.
Overall though, trading for and signing RFAs has been Treliving's best work

Monahan is probably my favourite Flame, but PLD is one of the best young Centres in the game.
There is almost nothing the Flames could give up that would upset me.

You have to do Monahan for PLD if that’s an option. Monahan is great at what he does but there is a chance that Dubios becomes a full fledged number one center that this team has been missing.
Come on Tre find some of your magic please.

It would be an exciting offseason if we acquire PLD and Markstrom.

I suggested Monahan and Hanifin for Dubois and Savard a few pages ago and still think that is a fair trade.
Flames trade a 26 year old with 3 years left on his deal and a 23 year old with 4 years left. They get a 22 year old RFA and a 30 year old RHD.
Flames make the move to hope Dubois had higher upside than Monahan and is a better long term for beside Tkachuk. Columbus adds 2 core pieces to continue to push forward immediately.
There were rumors the Flames and Jackets were talking a significant deal around the draft/free agency. Maybe those talks pick up again?

PLD for Laine could make some sense for both teams?

Does a Hanifin & Backlund & 3rd round pick for PLD followed up by a Hamonic signing? Thoughts ?

I like this for both teams. I am not to if Laine is a Torts player but interesting.

CBJ is amongst the hardest teams to predict, but I would say no.
Upgrade that 3rd to something of value and maybe.

It sucks to think of because I love them but I think I would push in Dubé or Mangiapane to acquire Dubois

Those were the first three names that came to mind as well. But if one of them was the key piece, I’ll help them pack.

I agree with this. IMO, PLD has more value than Monahan and Laine. he's up there with Barzal in terms of value.

The TBLightning just won the Cup running Brayden Point, Anthony Cirelli, Tyler Johnson and Yanni Gourde down the middle. Decent depth, but only one top centre in that group.
