It was a regular complaint of fans towards Bylsma of why he'd strictly have Iginla on his offside from what I remember.

Didn't Iginla, in his first game as a Pen and on his offside, nearly kill Crosby with a slapper on his first shift?

Crosby got hurt in the first game that Iggy played but I don’t think it had anything to do with an Iginla shot.

And I also vividly remember Iginla playing LW. It was on Malkin’s line as well. Even once Crosby came back in the playoffs they didn’t play together. Another weird move by Bylsma.

It had a lot to do with Neal's success switching from LW to RW. Had a 40-goal season under Bylsma.

He played RW after a while (with Malkin).

Spent 50% of his even strength time with Malkin and Neal in the playoffs.

I wonder if Bergevin would consider Alex Galchenyuk for TJ Brodie?

Where would you play Galchenyuk? Right wing? He shoots left.

I'd be ok with that.

Another trade idea I have been curious about since watching the WJC Pre-lims is Michael McLeod (NJD 1st rounder @ #12 in 2016) and Jesper Bratt for Brodie. Does NJD even consider it? I think so, but what do i know..

McLeod maybe, bratt is probably worth more than Brodie

Or Brodie for a first and other picks. We need to recoup picks.

The idea of essentially trading Brodie for Hamonic and moving down several spots in the draft makes me rather ill.

Yep, for better or worse Brad has started to go all in on this roster. He can't all of a sudden start recouping picks with core players that aren't as good as the picks we've given up.

If he's going to do something, it's got to be roster players for roster players or peripheral players/expiring contracts for picks.

If the Flames trade a Dman for picks it is not until they are on the draft floor. No waynitnosnduring the season

I know.

But Brodie hasn’t acted like a first besides one season. So what is he worth?

A hell of a lot more than Hamonic and a trade down in the draft, even in Brodie’s worst year.

It blows my mind that people say we need to get back picks. Hey let’s trade this very talented player for a couple magic beans that could turn into a similar player. Cmon now, this team is basically opening its window right now and we don’t have 5 years to wait for a new defender to develop. Brodie has been through personal issues this year and, so what, he’s having an off season. Relax people, he’s a good player.

I understand where you’re coming from. That said, I don’t feel Brodie is as good as Hamonic in his own zone nor do Left D hold as much value as the RD because they are a more exclusive group at the higher end of Dmen when comparing apple slices to apples, do they?
