Canucks going to ask Pettersson and Miller to sort out their differences
In a perfect world Canucks want to keep both long term
Friedman thinks that if this does not eventually get worked out something is going to give (no timeline, clock hasn't started yet)
Klingberg hoping to resume NHL career
Sometime after Christmas, will start skating with a junior team
Had the same surgery as Patrick Kane and working with the same people Kane did

My guess is Peterson is traded at the draft before his nmc kicks in.

I’d keep miller over peterson unless miller was a problem in the dressing room.
Peterson was a ghost in the playoffs. He seems a bit too soft for the role he’s been slotted into.

Miller is pretty old. He's also likely to start beef with whoever you bring in or any other players that want to take a bigger role with the team. At the end of the day Hughes might be the most important piece, what he wants should be relevant.
Also what other teams are willing to offer is pretty important. Maybe Pettersson brings back a much bigger return.

Miller seems like he can be a little abrasive and takes mistakes and losses really hard. Pettersson seems like sulky whiner.
Between the two, I'd probably Keep Miller. He at least seems to care more.

I'd be trading Miller first.
First rumors were him and Horvat didn't get along so they moved Horvat.
Now rumours are Pettersson and him don't get along.
Miller just seems to be one of those guys that is always going to have an issue with someone.
And In the end Miller turns 32 before the end of the season and Pettersson is 26. I'm keeping the guy that's 6 years younger every time in a scenario like this

Alternatively, I think Buffalo could still be a good trade partner if Vancouver chose to trade Miller instead. But I think you would more likely target a package of younger players instead.
To Buffalo: Miller + Hoglander
To Vancouver: Cozens + Byram
Who says no? Buffalo is getting the best player in the trade (by a pretty large margin) but Vancouver gets younger and hopes Cozens turns into a younger Miller. Risky trade for both teams IMO. I’m sure Miller has a NTC so that could make any trade to Buffalo tough to pull off.

Awful for Buffalo ^ and I’m not a big Cozens fan.

Maybe you’re right. Miller is 32 and his recent absence could be concerning for any acquiring team. How about this then:
To Buffalo: Miller + Hoglander + 2025 1st round pick + Atu Raty
To Vancouver: Cozens + Byram

Calgary often has little choice of who they can sign. The majority of players would not have us on their list.

I see it the opposite.
I think Miller, in large part, is the straw that stirs the drink for the Canucks. He’s a divisive guy, but you know what you’re going to get. Seems like that type of personality/leader/character could be the missing piece in Buffalo. They’re loaded with young talent but no one there, apparently, to guide them along.
Big gamble for Vancouver in this scenario. Interesting trade suggestion though.

Does Petey ever look disinterested right now.
The interview after the game yesterday told me everything I need to know about how it’s going.
1 of them is going to be moved and soon. Can’t let the season slip away over some internal squabble/drama.

Flames and Canucks are seemingly comfortable dealing with each other, so hypothetically, would you take that Petey contract for say an Andersson-headlined package, hoping Elias just needs to get out of Van to get his head right?

Me personally.. I’m not sure.
I don’t see him fitting in here too well with how our roster is constructed.
He reminds me of a better shooting Huberdeau.
That contract is going to age about as well as Huby… I still like them player but he can’t carry a line nor does he drive one.
Complimentary piece more so than franchise player in my humbled opinion.

Those ages cut both ways. Petterson has 8 more years at 11.6. If this isn’t just a phase, and he’s sulky, soft, and can’t produce in high-stakes games, do you want to be locked into him as your main piece for a decade?
This doesn’t seem like just a beef between two guys. Tocchet publicly declared that several players on the Canucks do not bring enough emotion and intensity to the game. Pretty safe bet Petterson is one of them and Tocchet is trying to send a message.

Maybe, however in my view it does sound like two of the core players simply don't get a long.
I would think the Canucks have no choice but to trade "Miller"

Oh hell no. He makes too much and he was invisible in the playoffs last year.
