Third party advertising is capped in an election year.
What you will get instead is $5 million in "Alberta Government" ads promoting all the great things the "Alberta Government" has done over the past four years.

If they can fill the airtime then they probably deserve it.
I cant imagine $5M worth of 'great things the NDP have done.'
Unless its an unreal ad-campaign...I suppose that could be considered 'great.'

Just look at the current pro-NDP ads the "Alberta Government" is airing right now. It talks about "thousands of jobs" being created in petrochemicals and renewables. Even though the government hasn't created a single job, but by golly, it's sure to happen aaaaaany day now, so they are going to brag about it today as if they have.

Are residents of other provinces or territories allowed to donate under the current rules? I don't think so?
Overall I love the tightening of the rules. I think they should make them even tighter and restrict spending further. I would like to see no third party ads and no government ads for this, ever. I see no value in those ads and I think it's a colossal waste of money.

Wow, the Alberta Government runs ads? Is this new? The previous governments didn't do this, did they? This must be a new thing!

And the current government campaigned on ending partisan advertising using government money then turned around - and like so many other things it once claimed to hate - started doing the same things. So, like it or not, your sad and transparent effort at deflecting the topic will not succeed. Notley is a hypocrite twice over.

Alberta second quarter forecast shows improvement
Quote:
The deficit is now projected at $10.8 billion, a decrease of $78 million from the first-quarter update.

Well I suppose that's good

That amount is still $449 million higher than what was forecast in the 2016 budget, released in April.

Psst. All politicians usually end up being hypocritical. Given your fiery passion for debating all things political, surely you must know that.

It's pure comedy to watch how every party in power crafts campaign finance reform so meticulously tailored to protect their own interests and hurt their rivals.

Kenney says it would be ridiculous for him to be involved in the reported break in at Wildrose headquarters because: “when I entered this I already had a database of 60,000 people who have contacted me over 20 years as a Member of Parliament.”
Huh? Is one allowed to mine the contacts of MP and federal ministerial office for a provincial party leadership race? Seems illegal.

He's had a lot of questionable tactics and accusations. I guess the prevailing thought is "just win" and it doesn't matter how. I find the guy incredibly smarmy to begin with and am mostly relieved to not have him as an MP (after he finally resigned in September after campaigning on the taxpayers dime all summer).

I am afraid he crushes the PC vote, WR during the election (as he pretty much preaches to their base), and gets an easy majority as he unites the right and the NDP has a lot more hate then before.
Pro - Notley doesn't stand a chance
Con - its him

Yeah I think he will win because a lot of blue Liberals are going to stay home at this point. No one to vote for, and as much as I want to vote against Kenney in that race, there are no real options.

There are always surprises, and I know I am over simplifying, but I think it is a near lock he is our next Premier and Notley has a one term rule. If WR supportors don't vote for him I will wonder why.
