Just not enough variation from Taylor yesterday, guys like Simon soak up heavy pace (in fact they love it), you need to mix things up with slices and drop shots like Felix did today, Felix got himself in a spot of bother in set 2 when he tried to hit too hard, when he basically gave Simon junk balls and forced Gilles to inject some pace, he induced a lot of errors.

/Fritz did take out Simon's legs yesterday however

The handshake between Rune and Rublev today was pretty frosty, in my opinion. Andrey is pretty cordial at the net at match end win or lose, but he barely even looked at Holger today.

It is kinda funny that two guys who have qualified for the NextGen finals (Musetti and Rune) defeated two guys who have qualified for the ATP Finals in Turin (Ruud and Rublev). Of course, this Paris tournament is a strange one, heck Jack Sock won this tourney in 2017.

Dabrowski and Olmos doubles is on TSN4 if interested.

Edit: Gaby and Guiliana win a wild super breaker 12-10 to even their record at the WTA Finals at 1-1. Some good play and some luck lol.

An early break for Felix! Looking dialed in to start.

Edit: FAA now up a double break and us serving for the opening set at 5-1

Edit 2: Send that French baguette over to Frances.

Another early break for Felix in set 2. FAA is playing well, but Frances is way down from his usual level.

Seems like he's not been able to match that level he hit at the US Open where he was on fire.

Yeah, the US Open hangover has affected a few guys it seems. Alcaraz appears to have recovered this week, but Tiafoe and Ruud still seem to be suffering the effects.

Felix has let five match points come and go. He'd better wrap this up in this next service game because the crowd is back into this match.

Felix bares down and gets the job done on serve - 6-1 6-4 and he awaits the winner of Carlitos vs. Holger.

/Let's hope it's a 3+ hour battle between the two 19 year olds.

You could really see the fatigue on him in the second set, but he did continue to serve very well and came up with enough fantastic shots to get it over the line against a guy that is incredibly hard to finish off.

FAA is nibbling on some incredibly elite company with every additional victory. If he snags this title as well, he will certainly be one of the more memorable streaks for someone not in the big 4 in recent memory.

This run by Felix reminds me of when Medvedev had his breakthrough, just couldn't seem to lose no matter who he was playing. Would really love to see a Felix and Novak final to see if he could take out Novak for the title.

Speaking of Medvedev, if Felix makes the Paris final, he will usurp Daniil when the official rankings come out on Monday (i.e. Felix will be #5)

The one big thing he has in his pocket the rest of the way is a 3-0 record against Alcaraz this season, and a recent victory over Novax at the Laver Cup (assuming the matchups fall the way you'd expect).

Rune takes the opening set 6-3 and to be honest dominated Carlitos in set 1.
