JA Happ was given $17 million per year by the Yanks. I think Ray is worth about $5 mil more per year than Happ.

Vladdy needed that one................badly.
Hope that's the start of a big streak.

Happ had averaged a 3.71 ERA over his previous 6 seasons and won 74 games.
Ray doesn't have bear that kind of track record, and is less than 1 season removed from putting up a near 7 ERA.
We'll see what the market gives him, he has looked fantastic this year for sure, but it's a pretty small sample size for a guy who was pretty much a DFA candidate 1 year ago.

Left two on. Ouch. Gotta get one of those in with only 1 out.

Grichuk 0-2 with 4 LOB. He's is just beyond useless. But we know he'll have a fantastic September when the chips are off the table. And then we'll hear Buck talk about Grichuk finally figuring it out. The dude is your typical book ends hitter. Always great Aprils and Septembers but a .600OPS the other 4 months. So infuriating.

Ray has ace/1B type stuff. Happ is a solid pitcher but Ray can be absolutely electric. A WHIP around 1 is spectacular.
Of course, I really hope you are right and he stays well within the Jays budget for next year.

I know.
Last year his whip was 1.9
But, we'll see what the market gives him.
He keeps this up for the rest of the season, you may very well be right.

This team is just so terrible right now.
Get a rally going, 1 run off a homer, 2nd and 3rd with one out, two pop ups to the catcher.
Just pathetic.
At this point you're just counting down the innings until the bullpen comes in and blows it somehow.

Good god, you're a miserable sports fan, aren't you?
Vladdy rips a much needed HR and you're upset that the bottom of the line up is cold.

The teams I follow make me miserable, and this one just finished a crucial road trip 3-6 against teams that were all behind them in the standings. They did that by not hitting with runners in scoring position and mostly in close games with a terrible bullpen.
They just got one run, and should have had two at a minimum, probably more. They also had runners on 1st and 2nd with 0 out and the top of the order up earlier in the game and got 0 runs.
So yeah, I've seen this movie before. One run will more than likely not be enough.
EDIT: I also posted my jubilation when Vladdy hit the home run as well.

Hoping for an efficient inning by Ray here. He needs to go through 8 and then pass the ball off to Romano.
Sure would be nice if the bats could wake up and score a couple more.

Amazes me that people fall in love with Grichuk every year when he gets on a hot streak. Lots of talk around trading Gurriel at the deadline. Grichuk is what he is…a very mediocre player who can get hot and then becomes completely unproductive.

Not even sure if I trust Romano right now. Our idiot manager hasn't pitched him in so long he's probably rusty as hell.

Amazes me even more that our manager also does this. Even for the brief time we had all outfielders healthy, Montoyo was making sure Grichuk got in there for his regular useless at bats.
