I peeled off after we decended back down Centre Street. Where did the group go afterward? How much longer did they keep going? Until dark?
I wonder how many didn't come up the bridge in the first place. It was fun! I didn't expect it!
I had so much fun I want to try the Saturday ride - Has anybody done the BikeBike Last Saturday party pace group ride? It sounds like Critical Mass but some of the videos look offroad like single track inside a forest? Not sure if a 28mm tire road bike is appropriate.

We turned west on 3rd ave, went down 2nd street and headed west on 4th avenue and took the 10th street bridge and rolled up 10th, then west on 5th avenue to end in Riley park. They had cake to celebrate the one year anniversary.

I am about a month away from flying into Vegas with a buddy for a week of riding culminating with a Fondo event in St George Utah.
We plan on riding:
Valley of fire
Zion from St George area
Bryce Canyon
and a loop out of St George up to Veyo Volcano
Is there anything we're missing that is a must ride that we should turf something for? With 5 days of riding we'll be at about 450 kms and 5K of climbing, so I'm hesitant to take away our rest day for a ride without giving up one of our currently planned rides.
I guess looking for some general feedback from others who may have ridden out that way would be helpful, too.

Just road cycling?
I’d try to have an hour or two to drop into Bryce Canyon and do a little loop hike. It’s one of the coolest places on earth and looks very different from the bottom than the top. There’s a nice loop from Thors hammer to wall st

Just road cycling. My buddy has a custom length crank as one leg is a different size than the other from a football injury. Hiking is not really his forte.

Time to start the annual fall “dang the ninjas” rants about those dressed in black and riding/running pre dawn without lights or reflectors. Double dang at those ninjas who have no idea and sometimes yell “hey watch it” (often preceded by “hey EFF YOU”).

I've got one on my morning commute, and timing wise we always seem to meet up around all the winding sections around the zoo. We are traveling opposite directions and it freaking sucks when he always just appears out of nowhere into my headlight. All it would take is him cutting one corner a little too much and we are going to have a bad time.

Conversely, the guys who have the a light equivalent to 5 suns blinding you for 30 meters as they approach are just as bad, I just use a small front blinky light so you see me and I can see further than if a super bright light was mounted. (Light only lets you see as far as the beam goes 40 feet max, can pick people out from couple hundred feet with just a blinky.

Friends don't let friends strobe white.
And queue the never-ending argument...
I make a point of making sure my headlight isn't pointing horizontal or up, probably casting down about 20 feet in front of me. Even more of an angle on the winter bike, but I do find that us year round riders seem to have the headlights adjusted properly. I'm never getting blinded by fellow riders in the winter, but always have this issue on the shoulder seasons.

Oh I agree, it's not a stobe, simply a blinky MEC light that lets you know I'm there, usually pointed straight down. By mid winter my night vision is incredible

if it wasn't for some medium-bright lights I woulda had a lot more head-on crashes the last number of years. A small little blinky... not good enough for me. A 1000lumen LED... way too much for the bike paths... but probably good enough for riding on the roads IMO.... until getting onto the paths and then turn that beast down.
The other gear grinder is the folks that put the red light on the front of their bike. In the pitch dark thats confusing.

I got these styling things which are great for changing light through the day:
https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07DGT8K2L/
Basically transparent, but shade up decently when it gets brighter. I used to much about switching lenses, or with 2 pairs. These are great because I don't care if I scratch them.

So the gravel world championships were this past weekend. Very strong showing by largely a roadie group for both men and women. Still had exciting racing and deserving winners. Especially by that GOAT Vos.. But it seemed to me that the gravel was mostly… hardpack, hardly any true gravel, and a lot of roads. So definitely a roadies course and not what I’d consider a proper gravel course.
