Ajax have said that they are seeking an "absurd" bid.

Looks like Babel is off to Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga depsite Kenny saying just thir morning that he was staying.

Hopefully theres a little more action this transfer window for Liverpool, they still need more depth.

Sounds like it. Makes it seem a little less likely that we end up with Suarez in this case.

Good win over Fulham. Granted it was 1-0 with a Fulham own goal, but Torres also had a great goal in the first half called off on the offside, yeah, not even close, he was well onside there.

Deserved win I thought, but Fulham but in a pretty solid effort.

Bizarre own goal by Fulham leads to a 1-0 win. Not overly convincing but, whatever, I'll take the points anyway we can get them this season.

Up to 7th.

That was a horrendous call by the linseman (woman? haha) on Torres' goal. Should have counted.

Hilarious own goal though. How one can find the time for three touches and still score on them self is impressive.

The best part was Raul Meireles, he was standing right there kind of watching and thinking to himself: 'I totally dont have to touch this, this guy has this taken care of.'

Late news from the evening over there. Chelsea had a £35-40m bid for Fernando Torres rejected by Liverpool.

Good on Liverpool.

From TSN....

Casting a watchful eye over those proceedings from the comfort of their windmill has been Ajax who earlier in the week pushed back Liverpool's pursuit of prime asset Luis Suarez. Refusing to budge from their asking price of £21m Ajax tagged Liverpool's initial offer of £12.7m as ‘disrespectful'. For this particular January market the words ‘delusional of Liverpool' seem more appropriate. Having felt disrespected the Dutch club then bluntly reminded the Boston based Anfield ownership group of very recent price points paid for similar used goods. As back up to their pricing model Ajax have the Uruguayan's cheats and feats from South Africa to refer to.

Just yesterday the Amsterdamsters placed an expiry date of January 29th for concluding any deal for Suarez, further advising that the price would increase in multiples of €5m for each day there after. Famed for inventing Total Football back in the early 1970's Ajax have rebranded themselves as the pioneers of Raised Stakes Soccer. Moral of the story for NESV, if you've decided to invest in a globally framed billionaire's playground you best book an appointment with the International Monetary Fund prior to jetting in for soccer's very own version of the World Series of Poker.

To be honest, the £12M offer was more than fair. Particularly because they're after a striker from the Dutch league, its a well known 'Little Sister' they develop great players but the quality is lower than the EPL so they know that Suarez likely isnt going to be scoring 30+ in the Premier League like he is at Ajax.

But the fact of the matter is that the EPL, and particularly Man City, have skewed the transfer market valuation rates so much that every PL club is expected to break the bank for every transfer.

That is a hefty fee but it was always was going to be at this time of year. Liverpool simply couldn't afford to wait to bring in striking reinforcements. They need more options up front and Suarez provides that.

Let's face it the Dutch league is nowhere near the quality of the EPL but there's no disputing that something like 64 goals in 76 appearances is mighty impressive.

I agree wholeheartedly, honestly things are looking up a little for this club, if Kenny plays him alongside Torres with Stevie coming in behind and Meireles making some of those absolutely lethal through passes things could be a lot brighter.

Basically, this team is in desperate need of scoring help, if it isnt Torres or Stevie no one was putting the ball in the net. I mean, when was Kuyt's last goal? Meireles is chipping in with the odd (but amazing) goals, but hes just starting and Ngog is hardly any help at all.

Someone has to help shoulder the goalscoring burden and yes, Suarez's record in the Dutch league is indeed, mighty impressive. Lets see them make a go of this.

Wow. Rumors flying around the past hour that Torres has put in a transfer request and Chelsea has upped their bid to £45m plus Sturridge.

No legit source I have found, but shocking if true.

Yep the rumour mill is cranking that Liverpool upped the bid because Nando had his head turned by Chelski.

They've come knocking before. I dont see why he'd want to leave right now.

Other than the money of course. I'm hearing that they're offering between £160,000 and £200,000+ per week.

Thats a LOT of coin.
