from what i recall you don't get any upgrades from playing the tutorial. there are 2 ways to improve your guy: by earning your player cards, and the new boosts. the player cards for online and offline are based off of # of games played and overall player grade. the new boosts have a variety of ways to get unlocked, but i am pretty sure that none require you to play that opening sequence. here is the site i used to get all the unlockables:

A pet peeve of mine in BAP is getting called for tripping when I call for teammates to shoot the puck. I couldn't find a way to change the "call for shot" button. Any ideas?

did i see in the update thread that they are also updating the sliders? does that mean for online play?

Here are the changes for the tuning update that was just posted (V1.02 for offline changes):

-Goalie and shot tuning to reduce exploit goals.

-Acceleration and puck control tuning (EASHL & ranked OTP). The puck carrier will now have slightly less agility and acceleration than other players and will lose the puck a bit more easily.

-Slight decrease skating speed when stick lifting (EASHL & ranked OTP)
-Increased chance of unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for fight instigation while the clock is running (online only)

The first update happened before the launch, so these are the differences between the demo or the un-updated disk version (so V1.00 does not have these changes, but V1.01 and after do):

-Increase the effect of the Pass Accuracy slider
-Increase speed loss doing the Leg Kick
-Tuning to reduce effectiveness of an exploit goal using slap shots near the goal line
-Move default shot aim further inside the posts to reduce the number of posts and missed shots
-Reduce interference penalties
-Increase effectiveness of poke check to dig puck out of boardplay
-Passing improvements (improved assistance for speed of a pass that has not target)
-Fixed bug in the effect of toughness on intimidation

This isn't everything we currently have planned to do, there are a few changes building on top of these already in progress.

Sweet. One of the most annoying aspects of versus play was getting held to the boards when going after the puck and no interference being called. That's textbook interference aka clutch and grab.

Anyone know when the roster update is coming for 360? I thought I saw somewhere that it is up but couldn't download them on Live.

I find it moreso with the slashing or hooking calls. Everytime I want to life stick, I get called for slashing or hooking. Reallllyyy annoying.

Hardly - NHL 10 is back to pre-patch NHL 09 for allowing flagrant interference calls - you can stop any one timer attempt by plowing the guy setting up for the one timer and almost never get called.

Is it just me, or have the also gotten rid of hitting from behind and boarding penalties? It used to be so easy to get one of those in 09, but now, I can run guys from behind all I want, and while they don't crumple to the ground, I get no penalties.

I've been called for it a bunch of times, seems more frequent to me. Or maybe I've just become way dirtier this year.

Also probably depends on what player type is chosen. Snipers/Playmakers/Danglers would be less likely to draw boarding penalties than grinders/power forwards/tough guys/Defensive D, purely due to the fact that the offensive guys stock in trade is to put up points. Call it the rep bonus if you will.

I just bought NHL2K10 at Costco for the Wii for $36.99. Regular price was 45.99 but there is a $9 mfg rebate on it.

They haven't got rid of the penalties but you get less penalties because they did tone down the hits for NHL 10. I wish they would bump it back up a bit.

Hey guys, just wondering if the roster update has been available to any of you? as it has not been for me. I had heard talk of it being released Friday within 24 hours and haven't seen anything yet.

so this is ######ing annoying, after playing all 82 regular season games, sweep the first round, win the 1st game of 2nd round, now everytime i try to progress my xbox freezes because of the scout assignment.

here is what i tried to do to not have it freeze

- if i sim to the next game, the scout assignment thing comes up, i hit ok and change assignment, and it freezes right there
- if i sim to the next game, hit continue on the phone, it freezes
- sim to the next day, update scout assignment, freezes
- sim to next day, continue from phone, sim to next day and it freezes
- before simming change scout assignment, but then it brings up that scout assignment finished the next day

i've tried everything i can think of to avoid the scout assignment issue, but it just keeps freezing,

now I am going to be ######ing pissed if i can't continue with this season after playing 87 games, yes thats 1740 minutes, 29 hours, 1.2 days of playing this season all to come down to a point where i cannot get past this part i have to simulate.
