If any of you have relatives in Toronto...
Toronto to Cozumel, Mexico - $281 CDN
Dec 13-20
http://www.westjet.com
The one way price to Cozumel on Dec 13 is only $39+tax! Unfortunately the cheapest I can find coming back is $129 + tax.

Interesting trip combo that you could do...
YYC to Los Angeles, L.A. to New York, back to L.A., back to YYC - $514 CDN
Flight #1. YYC to LAX Dec 2 to 10 on WestJet - $286
Flight #2. LAX to New York - Dec 4 to 8 on American - $228
2 vacations in one for 500 bucks. Good one for aspiring fashion models and air mile collectors.
btw you can do the same thing but replace New York with Boston or Washington DC. Same price.

The prices I quote always, always, always include all taxes & fees. Otherwise they wouldn't be great deals!

Cool, I didn't think anyone actually planned Vegas weddings, I thought they just happened
A new york to L.A. trip would be fun in December. You could see New York all Christmased out. The Rockfeller tree lighting is on Dec 2 this year. http://gonyc.about.com/od/christmass...centertree.htm
And then you could fly back and enjoy some time in sunny California.
We did something like that last year, driving down to Salt Lake and snowboarding around there, and then took advantage of a cheap flight from SLC to Mexico. Just kinda neat to go from -20 to +30 and back.

I haven't flown with them, but I do know they made a huge stink with Sydney (YQY) didn't renew their contract and brought in WestJet as their season carrier. Sydney doesn't have the counter space, nor the caption area to support three airlines, rather than have WestJet and SunWing compete and both say we don't make money and pull out, they just went with the more established airliner.
SunWing protested and still sold tickets thinking the public backlash and outrage would force the hand of the airport, which didn't happen. Airport officials stood strong saying "we'll shoot ourselves, if we do this".
Other than that, a guy I know that works at the airport said WestJet brought in a better class of clientele than SunWing.
Regardless I haven't flown with them, I'm sure they're a good company, discount airline that does packages in the winter and scheduled routes in the summer.
At the end of the day they get you from point A to point B and back. I've flown with Air Atlantic, Air Nova/Air Canada Jazz, Air Canada, CanJet, and WestJet. Honestly I haven't ever had a problem with any of them. Biggest complaint was the CanJet's 737's I was on were poorly pressurized.
I know people here complain about the airlines in Canada, but from my experiance they actually have been really good.

I think this is just people complaining for the sake of complaining. I haven't had any problems with the Canadian airlines I've been on. Don't complain about flying until you've been on one of those budget Euro airlines. Flying on Vueling I had no legroom (and I'm not even 5-9), and the only in flight entertainment was a Spanish "Details" magazine. Still I got from point A to point B with no delays so I'm not gunna cry.

Those value airlines is the way to run it tho. Ryan Air is the most successful airline in the world, and flys the most people... 190 million a year I think it is... Pretty crazy for an airline everyone seems to hate.

Looks like the cheapest is $707 USD from YYC to SJU on Delta (Jan 30 to Feb 15) or $4 more if you want to come back on the 14th

No, it's YYC to SLC to Atlanta to San Juan.
On the way back it's San Juan to Philly to Minneapolis to Calgary.
The fastest possible route is $742 USD using United & Continental.
Depart – Sat Jan 30 2010
United
Flight 8404
Operated by Air Canada
Layover in Houston, TX (IAH) for 1h 32m
Continental
Flight 1753
Return – Sun Feb 14 2010
Continental
Flight 1751
Continental
Flight 1429
19 hours of total travel time.
Saves you 17 hours of total travel time for 40 bucks more. Well worth it, assuming you make your connection on the way back in Houston, which can be a nightmare airport. Hint: Canadians can use the 'U.S. passports only' line.
